71. My Vision on the Seven Churches

Part 1 Philadelphia

November 6, 2013

 In the early a.m. of November 6, 2013, the angel of the Lord gave me a vision on the seven churches and the proper application of those messages of Revelation Chapters 2 and 3. I was shown that the SDA church and most other churches have misunderstood and therefore misapplied those messages. I was shown the following principles, Bible verses and Spirit of Prophecy statements in vision, and I was instructed to write them out for the instruction of God’s people, that none need be in any doubt as to God’s intended purpose for the seven messages to His church. This document as Part 1, will deal primarily with Philadelphia first, in order to establish the fact that individuals of any of the seven states of the church can revert to being one of the 144,000, because Ellen White said that all should strive to be a part of that number. She distinguished between the 144,000 and the great multitude by saying that only the 144,000 are translated without seeing death, and only the 144,000 go into the Temple on Mt. Zion in heaven.

I was shown that the most misunderstood fact relative to the messages to the seven churches is that all the messages apply for the edification of the church at any given time in history. My angel showed me that SDA leaders have been remiss in applying the seven messages as occurring only successively, so that the only message that applies to the church today is the last message, the message to Laodicea—thus falsely concluding that Laodicea is the last and final church in existence today. SDA leaders and laity alike have stated many times over that Laodicea is the seventh and last church, and any other church would be an imposter eighth church. What such persons have not discerned is that we can revert to any state of the seven churches at any time. I was instructed to address this important issue of all seven messages to the church and make a proper application of them.

It should be empirically discernible that if we are advised by the Spirit of Prophecy to strive to be amongst the 144,000, and that if that same source says flat out that the 144,000 are Philadelphians, one can indeed revert from being Laodicean, or any other described state of the church, to become a Philadelphia. I was shown that this fact in truth applies to all the states of the church defined in all seven messages.

Ellen White did indeed say very plainly that ALL should strive to be part of the 144,000, and she, as well as her husband James White, stated that Philadelphia is the 144,000. Folk should have been able to discern that Bible fact for themselves, but because of their rejection of truth, their spiritual discernment has been much impeded. SDA’s above all peoples should have been able to reason from cause to effect that if the church of Philadelphia is blameless, and the 144,000 as described in Revelation 14:1-4 are blameless, they are one and the same entity! That should be kindergarten level spiritual discernment capability; like adding one and one. But alas, the complete inability of the great majority of God’s people to discern this obvious and blatant truth, provides a classic example of the depth of ineptitude to which the members of the church have sunk in not being able to reason out this truth. It is a stark demonstration of just how blind and naked they really are.

I’ll tell you something positively fascinating, however pitiful: At the inception of my ministry in 1986, I held cottage meetings. There were about 40 attendees present most of the time. At the end of those meetings where I gave my full message, a couple of lads who had attended went around telling everyone: “I could do what Ron has done!” They told me the same thing. So I responded: Then why don’t you! Why didn’t you?

We’ve all heard proverbial Monday morning “quarterbacks!” As well, it’s easy to be a Monday morning Professor after the Calculus problem was explained by the Professor the Friday before! It is easy to be a Monday morning Prophet after the evidence is made so simple by God’s servants. But even then, even then friend, most of God’s people are so arrogant and stiff-necked and know it all-- that like Pharaoh, they will deny evidence so that they may continue sinning. The prime motive behind denying truth, is a love for sin, and many folk will go to great straining of the gnats to deny the most obvious truths!

You see, many things seem very simple when explained. For example, when I point out the clear parallel between Philadephia and the 144,000, it is so tempting for anyone to conclude: That is simple! I could have told you that! But the pitiful truth is that Ellen White pointed that fact out decades ago, and the church still does not teach that truth! The lesson? It is all too easy to take for granted a message that God’s prophets bring to us. Why did Ellen White have to define Philadelphia as being the 144,000, when the clear facts that prove this true are right in the Bible? I will tell you why: It is because of the stupor of the people!

Ellen White said we would not have needed her if we had studied the Bible as we should have, and Philadelphia being blameless along with the 144,000 being blameless is a clear example of that! All the kings men and all the kings watchmen should have put that together a long, long time ago! But they still don’t have it together! That is how spiritually blind a people who think they know it all can get!

Another person in Australia recently said to me concerning my message: So what! Anyone could deduce that! And my response: Then why—from 1844-1986, did not ONE PERSON come out with my warning message to the church—putting all the jig-saw puzzle pieces together so that none contradict?

Ellen and James White’s Description of Philadelphia as Being the 144,000

And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; {ExV 41.2}

I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it; for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. {ExV 41.3}

Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. {ExV 41.4}

Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. {ExV 41.5}

Behold I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. {ExV 41.6}

Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is New Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. {ExV 41.7}

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Revelation 3:7-13. {ExV 41.8}

These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins: these are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the first-fruits unto God and to the Lamb. {ExV 41.9}

And in their mouth was found no guile; for they are without fault before the throne of God.” Revelation 14:4, 5. {ExV 41.10} Experience and Views, p. 41.

In the above statement Ellen White makes it as clear as crystal that Philadelphians are the 144,000 of Revelation 14:4, 5. The church should not have needed this statement by Ellen White to co-relate Philadelphia to the 144,000. But that is why the gift of prophecy is necessary—because of “dumb sheep” who are herded (led) by dumb dog shepherds who were supposed to be the watchmen. How and why did this state of stupidity accrue?

Answer to How and Why: Dumb-dog shepherd “watchmen,” lead people in peace and safety paths because “my people love to have it so.”

Note: If Laodiceans can repent (as individuals), and revert to the Philadelphian state, then all churches can repent and return to their first love experience. However, Ellen White says that Laodicea is the foolish virgin state of the church, so Laodicea can’t repent as a corporate church, because the foolish virgins don’t repent. Notice:

Are we hoping to see the whole church revived? That time will never come. There are persons in the church who are not converted, and who will not unite in earnest, prevailing prayer. We must enter upon the work individually. We must pray more, and talk less.”--1SM 122 (1887). {LDE 195.2}

10 His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.

11 Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.

12 Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.” Isaiah 56:10-12.

The Ultimate Penalty for Loving to be Led by a Dumb-dog Watchmen

Begin at My Sanctuary -- "Here we see that the church--the Lord's sanctuary--was the first to feel the stroke of the wrath of God. The ancient men [leaders], those to whom God had given great light and who had stood as guardians of the spiritual interests of the people, had betrayed their trust. They had taken the position that we need not look for miracles and the marked manifestation of God's power as in former days. Times have changed. These words strengthen their unbelief, and they say: The Lord will not do good, neither will He do evil. He is too merciful to visit His people in judgment. Thus 'Peace and safety" is the cry from men who will never again lift up their voice like a trumpet to show God's people their transgressions and the house of Jacob their sins. These dumb dogs that would not bark are the ones who feel the just vengeance of an offended God. Men, maidens, and little children all perish together." E. G. White, Testimonies, Vol. 5, 211.

The leaders whom God indicts as leading His people to destruction, are not the only ones to blame. The people they lead love to have it so!

13 For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the Lord of hosts.

14 Therefore the Lord will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.

15 The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.

16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.

17 Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

18 For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.

19 Through the wrath of the Lord of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother.

20 And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:

21 Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. Isaiah 9:13-21.

COUNTERPART: "The Lord commanded one of his ancient servants, 'Pray not thou for this people [Jer. 7:16 and 11:9-15], neither lift up cry nor prayer for them neither make intercession to me for I will not hear thee.' The prophet thus describes the sins which had called forth this fearful denunciation: 'The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means and my people love to have it so and what will ye do in the end thereof?' 'From the least of them even unto the greatest of them, every one is given to covetousness and from the prophet even unto the priest, every one dealeth falsely. They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace, when there is no peace.' The apostles declare that this state of things will find its COUNTERPART in the last days. Many have a form of godliness, but in their daily life deny the power thereof. They have ceased to be convicted of their sins or alarmed at their state. They say in their hearts, 'The church is flourishing. Peace and spiritual prosperity are within her borders.' The words of the prophet may well apply to these self-deceivers, 'They have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations. I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them." E. G. White, Second Advent Review and Sabbath Herald,  11-07-82.

"Shall the Lord be compelled to say, `Pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to Me: for I will not hear thee' [Jeremiah 7:16]? `Therefore the showers [of the Holy Spirit] have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain....Wilt thou not from this time cry unto Me, My Father, thou art the guide of my youth' [Jeremiah 3:3-4]?...

We are to be judged by the light that has been given us,(159) and we can find no excuse by which to extenuate our course." Review and Herald, Vol. 3, p 69-70 (August 1, 1893). (Brackets by Ellen White)

COUNTERPART: "In the time of the Saviour, the Jews had so covered over the precious jewels of truth with the rubbish of tradition and fable, that it was impossible to distinguish the true from the false. The Saviour came to clear away the rubbish of superstition and long-cherished errors, and to set the jewels of God's word in the framework of truth. What would the Saviour do if he should come to us now as he did to the Jews? He would have to do a similar work in clearing away the rubbish of tradition and ceremony. The Jews were greatly disturbed when he did this work [As are SDAs today!]. They had lost sight of the original truth of God, but Christ brought it again to view. It is our work to free the precious truths of God from superstition and error." E.G. White,  Review and Herald, Vol. 2, 308.

That is exactly what my commission is friend. I am freeing the precious truths of God from LONG-CHERISHED superstition and error due to misinterpretation, misrepresentation and a lack of spiritual discernment of God’s people due to their stupor due to their belief that they already KNOW IT ALL, so they quit digging in the mines of truth for the deeper things of God’s Word, which were to be constantly expanding truth!

Admonition to Strive to be Among the 144,000, is an Admonition to be Perfect as Christ was Perfect

Let us strive with all the power that God has given us to be among the hundred and forty-four thousand (RH March 9, 1905).” {7BC 970.10}

Ellen White’s advice that we all should strive to be part of the 144,000, is echoed by Jesus in Matthew 5:48:

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Matthew 5:48.

As becomes beings to whom the Lord God has given the faculties of reason and of action, we should use our powers in accordance with the divine purpose. God desires to be honored and glorified in the work of His hands. Every human being will have to give an account to God for the way in which he has used his entrusted talents. We are under obligation to use our powers aright that we may be qualified for eternal life in the kingdom of God. God demands perfection from every human being. We are to be perfect in this life of humanity, even as God is perfect in His divine character.

God made every provision in man’s behalf, creating him only a little lower than the angels. Adam disobeyed, and entailed sin upon his posterity. But God gave His only begotten Son for the redemption of the race. Christ took on Him the nature of man, and passed over the ground where Adam fell, to be tested and tried as all human beings are tested and tried. Satan came to Him as an angel of light to induce him, if possible, to commit sin, and thus place the human race entirely under the dominion of evil. But Christ was victorious. Satan was defeated, and the race was placed on vantage ground with God.

When the Father gave His Son to live and die for man, He placed all the treasures of heaven at our disposal. There is no excuse for sin. God has given us all the advantages He possibly could give, that we may have strength to withstand the temptations of the enemy. Had man, when tested and tried, followed the example of Christ, he would have given his children and his children’s children an example of steadfast purity and righteousness, and the race would not have deteriorated, but improved....

Many act in this our day as though this were a matter of small importance. But had the human family, even after the fall of Adam, worked according to the example of Christ, every father and every mother would leave their children an example of how to conduct themselves so as to fulfill their obligations to God, then the world would have been as Eden. The earth, now a desert of sin, would have rejoiced and blossomed as the rose.”—Letter 143, November 5, 1900, to Elder McClure, a minister in California.

In our largest churches the greatest evils exist, because these have had the greatest light. They have not a true knowledge of God, and of Jesus Christ whom he has sent. The leaven of unbelief is working, and unless these evils which bring the displeasure of God are corrected in its members, the whole church stands accountable for them. The deep movings of the Spirit of God are not with them; the glorious presence of the King of saints, and his power to cleanse from all moral defilement, are not manifest among them. Many come to the assembly as worshipers, like the door upon its hinges. They understand not the true application of the Scriptures, nor the power of God. They have eyes, but they see not; ears have they, but they hear not; they continue in their evil ways, yet regard themselves as the privileged, obedient people who are doers of the word. A carnal security and ease in Zion prevail. Peace, peace, is sounded in her borders, when God has not spoken peace. They have forfeited the terms of peace; there is reason for an alarm to be sounded in all "my holy mountain." The sinners in Zion should be afraid, in a time when they do not expect it, sudden destruction will surely come upon all who are at ease.” {RH, December 23, 1890 par. 10}

Studying Philadelphia and Its End-time Application

7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

Note: There are world banker Jews now claiming to be the 144,000. They do lie. They worship Satan. They are of his synagogue. They will finally worship at the feet of Philadelphia when Christ comes.

10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Note: This is proof that Philadelphia is the end-time 144,000 bride of Christ, because she is kept during the time of trouble that comes upon all the world. That is at the end-time, Matthew 24:21.

11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

Note: Philadelphia is being instructed to hold that fast which she has till Jesus comes. She is translated without seeing death.

12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Note: In The Great Controversy, p. 426, it is the bride of Christ that is the earthly representative of THE NEW JERUSALEM, to wit:

The Holy City, the New Jerusalem, which is the capital and representative of the kingdom, is called "the bride, the Lamb's wife." Said the angel to John: "Come hither, I will show thee the bride, the Lamb's wife." "He carried me away in the spirit," says the prophet, "and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God." Revelation 21:9, 10. Clearly, then, the bride represents the Holy City, and the virgins that go out to meet the bridegroom are a symbol of the church. In the Revelation the people of God are said to be the guests at the marriage supper. Revelation 19:9. If guests, they cannot be represented also as the bride. Christ, as stated by the prophet Daniel, will receive from the Ancient of Days in heaven, "dominion, and glory, and a kingdom;" He will receive the New Jerusalem, the capital of His kingdom, "prepared as a bride adorned for her husband." Daniel 7:14; Revelation 21:2. Having received the kingdom, He will come in His glory, as King of kings and Lord of lords, for the redemption of His people, who are to "sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob," at His table in His kingdom (Matthew 8:11; Luke 22:30), to partake of the marriage supper of the Lamb.” {GC 426.2}

13 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Rev. 3:7-13.

Ellen White dealt with the open and shut door. She said that the door to the Holy Place was shut and the door to the Most Holy was open to God’s people, and that they should enter into the Most Holy Place by faith. Early Writings, 251 and 255 and The Great Controversy, pp. 426, 427.

·       Jesus is married in the Most Holy Place to the New Jerusalem before He comes the second time.

·       The New Jerusalem is Philadelphia. She is made pillars (leaders) in the Temple on Mt. Zion.

·       Only the 144,000 enter the Temple on Mt. Zion. Early Writings, p. 19.

My Vision on the Seven Churches

Part 2

Can Lukewarm Laodiceans Revert to Other States of the Seven Churches?

http://omega77.tripod.com/myvisionsevenchurches2.htm

We learned in Part 1 that Ellen White counseled Laodicean Seventh-day Adventists to strive to be part of the 144,000, which she positively defined as Philadelphians. This is additional proof of her statement that all seven of the messages to the churches in Revelation chapters 2 and 3 apply to all individual members all churches to the end of time.

"The names of the seven churches are symbolic of the church in different periods of the Christian Era. The number indicates completeness, and is symbolic of the fact that the messages [plural] extend to the end of time, while the symbols used reveal the condition of the church at different periods in the history of the world." E.G. White, The Acts of the Apostles, 585.

You may wonder why all seven messages cannot apply to all corporate churches till the end of time. The answer to that is the fact that when a church becomes fallen, it has committed unpardonable sin, and only individual members of such a church can repent. For example, the Roman Catholic church of Rome and her fallen daughters cannot repent as corporate churches because they fell. That is why God instructs us to come out of fallen churches to be saved. Separation is an absolute necessity. Why? Because God says that it is impossible for the wheat to mature and remain/become pure in a corrupt, fallen church, to wit:

"It is IMPOSSIBLE for you to unite with those who are corrupt, and still remain pure. (II Corinthians 6:14-15 quoted). God and Christ and the heavenly host would have men know that if he unites with the corrupt he will become corrupt." E. G. White, Review and Herald, Vol. 4, p. 137.

Openly corrupt churches are like the thorns mentioned in Scripture. They choke the wheat and kill it. Thus, it is impossible for the wheat to ripen and mature.

"Thorns sprung up.--The thorns made it impossible for the wheat to mature (see Luke 8:14). In the same way secular interests prevent the fruits of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22, 23) from reaching maturity. Religion is relegated to the subordinate position of being only one interest among many. For lack of cultivation it withers and eventually dies. That which the thorny-ground hearers lack is a moral transformation [E.G. White, Christ's Object Lessons,  p. 50]  To them, justification is the sum and substance of religion, and they fail to realize that the Christian life consists essentially in the process known as sanctification--the process by which evil traits and tendencies are replaced by the perfect life-pattern of Jesus Christ." Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary, Vol. 5, 405.

Can you Distinguish Between a Thorn-Berry Church and a Church That Bears Olives?

Most Christians focus only on the wheat and the tares. They don’t consider the thorn element and the fact that thorns kill the wheat. The wheat can mature amongst tares, because the wheat and tares dwell together until the harvest—the end of the world. But the wheat cannot dwell with open sinning apostate thorns and ripen for the harvest by becoming and remaining pure, sanctified. Many don’t know of this significant difference between tares and thorns. They can’t distinguish between a church that bears thorn-berries and a church that bears olives.

The Lord will not write as wise those who cannot distinguish between a tree that bears thorn-berries and a tree that bears olives.

Individually, we are deciding our eternal destiny, deciding whether we shall enjoy the highest honor that can be given to man, even an eternal weight of glory, or be ranked with Satan by possessing his character, by dishonoring God because we profess to be Christians while misrepresenting Christ. Those who choose to reveal the character of the arch-deceiver identify themselves with him beyond the possibility of a change, because they choose not to see themselves as wrong. This was the course that Satan pursued.” {RH September 7, 1897, par. 16}

God has shown me in vision that an in-depth study of the seven states of the churches gives us His definition of which of the seven churches bear olives and which bear thorn berries.

Were the Fallen Churches Always Fallen?

The Bible predicted a falling away. In order to be fallen, a fallen church had to fall from a true position at some point in time.

Babylon is said to be “the mother of harlots.” By her daughters must be symbolized churches that cling to her doctrines and traditions, and follow her example of sacrificing the truth and the approval of God, in order to form an unlawful alliance with the world. The message of Revelation 14 announcing the fall of Babylon, must apply to religious bodies that were once pure and have become corrupt. Since this message follows the warning of the Judgment, it must be given in the last days, therefore it cannot refer to the Romish Church, for that church has been in a fallen condition for many centuries. Furthermore, in the eighteenth chapter of the Revelation, in a message which is yet future, the people of God are called upon to come out of Babylon. According to this scripture, many of God’s people must still be in Babylon. And in what religious bodies are the greater part of the followers of Christ now to be found? Without doubt, in the various churches professing the Protestant faith. At the time of their rise, these churches took a noble stand for God and the truth, and his blessing was with them. Even the unbelieving world was constrained to acknowledge the beneficent results that followed an acceptance of the principles of the gospel. In the words of the prophet to Israel, “Thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty; for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord God.” But they fell by the same desire which was the curse and ruin of Israel,—the desire of imitating the practices and courting the friendship of the ungodly. “Thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown.” {GC88 382.3}

Many of the Protestant churches are following Rome’s example of iniquitous connection with “the kings of the earth;” the State churches, by their relation to secular governments, and other denominations by seeking the favor of the world. And the term Babylon—confusion—may be appropriately applied to these bodies, all professing to derive their doctrines from the Bible, yet divided into almost innumerable sects, with widely conflicting creeds and theories. {GC88 383.1}

Besides a sinful union with the world, the churches that separated from Rome present other of her characteristics. {GC88 383.2}

A Romish work—the “Catholic Christian Instructed”—makes the charge: “If “Adventists, seeing that the churches rejected the testimony of God's word, could no longer regard them as constituting the church of Christ, "the pillar and ground of the truth;" and as the message, "Babylon is fallen," began to be proclaimed, they felt themselves justified in separating from their former connection.” Spirit of Prophecy, vol 4, p 237.

Why true reformers in every succeeding generation have separated from the church of their fathers:

 "The Sanhedrin had rejected Christ's message and was bent upon His death therefore Jesus departed from Jerusalem, from the priests, the temple, the religious leaders, the people who had been instructed in the law, and turned to another class to proclaim His message, and to gather out those who should carry the gospel to all nations.

As the light and life of men was rejected by the ecclesiastical authorities in the days of Christ, so it has been rejected in every succeeding generation. Again and again the history of Christ's withdrawal from Judea has been repeated. When the Reformers preached the word of God, they had no thought of separating themselves from the established church but the religious leaders would not tolerate the light, and those that bore it were forced to seek another class, who were longing for the truth. In our day few of the professed followers of the Reformers are actuated by their spirit. Few are listening for the voice of God, and ready to accept truth in whatever guise it may be presented. Often those who follow in the steps of the Reformers are forced to turn away from the churches they love, in order to declare the plain teaching of the word of God. And many times those who are seeking for light are by the same teaching obliged to leave the church of their fathers, that they may render obedience." E.G. White, Desire of Ages, 232.

The only reason given in the above statement for the separation of true reformers in every succeeding generation is: THE RELIGIOUS LEADERS WOULD NOT TOLERATE THE LIGHT. That is why Jesus, His disciples and their followers separated. I have to continually repeat the following evidence, for many Adventists continue to try to tell me that Jesus and His followers did not separate from the Temple!

"Christ was a protestant...The Reformers date back to Christ and the apostles. They came out and separated themselves from a religion of forms and ceremonies. Luther and his followers did not invent the reformed religion. They simply accepted it as presented by Christ and the apostles." E.G. White, Review and Herald, vol. 2, 48, col. 2.

Paul left

And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.  9But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.” Acts 19:8, 9.

Fearing that the faith of the believers would be endangered by continued association with these opposers of the truth, Paul separated from them, and gathered the disciples into a distinct body.” E.G. White, Acts of the Apostles, p. 285, 286.

Has the Adventist Church Fallen? Will That Church Tolerate the Light of True Reformers Today? Has the SDA Laodicean Church Reverted to the Sardis state? Is that Possible According to Scripture and History?

We learned that the Protestant churches At the time of their rise, these churches took a noble stand for God and the truth, and his blessing was with them.” We know that they will return to clasp hands with their Mother Harlot, Rome. So we know that it is possible for a true church to revert from an original true state to an apostate state such as Sardis.

How could we regard a once lukewarm Laodicean church as still being lukewarm after it becomes cold apostate? Let’s look at the instruction God gives us concerning Sardis.

The Church of Sardis

We will study the church of Sardis, and make the proper application of it, but first this reading from Ellen White:

Early in the history of the church the mystery of iniquity foretold by the apostle Paul began its baleful work; and as the false teachers concerning whom Peter had warned the believers, urged their heresies, many were ensnared by false doctrines. Some faltered under trial and were tempted to give up the faith. At the time when John was given this revelation, many had lost their first love of gospel truth. But in His mercy God did not leave the church to continue in a backslidden state. In a message of infinite tenderness He revealed His love for them and His desire that they should make sure work for eternity. “Remember,” He pleaded, “from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works.” Verse 5. {AA 587.1}

The church was defective and in need of stern reproof and chastisement, and John was inspired to record messages of warning and reproof and entreaty to those who, losing sight of the fundamental principles of the gospel, should imperil their hope of salvation. But always the words of rebuke that God finds it necessary to send are spoken in tender love and with the promise of peace to every penitent believer. “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock,” the Lord declares; “if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.” Revelation 3:20. {AA 587.2}

And for those who in the midst of conflict should maintain their faith in God, the prophet was given the words of commendation and promise: “I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept My word, and hast not denied My name.” “Because thou hast kept the word of My patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.” The believers were admonished: “Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die.” “Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.” Verses 8, 10, 2, 11. {AA 587.3}

It was through one who declared himself to be a “brother, and companion in tribulation” (Revelation 1:9), that Christ revealed to His church the things that they must suffer for His sake. Looking down through long centuries of darkness and superstition, the aged exile saw multitudes suffering martyrdom because of their love for the truth. But he saw also that He who sustained His early witnesses would not forsake His faithful followers during the centuries of persecution that they must pass through before the close of time. “Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer,” the Lord declared; “behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation: ... be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.” Revelation 2:10. {AA 588.1}

And to all the faithful ones who were striving against evil, John heard the promises made: “To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.” “He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before My Father, and before His angels.” “To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with Me in My throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne.” Verse 7; 3:5, 21. {AA 588.2}

John saw the mercy, the tenderness, and the love of God blending with His holiness, justice, and power. He saw sinners finding a Father in Him of whom their sins had made them afraid. And looking beyond the culmination of the great conflict, he beheld upon Zion “them that had gotten the victory ... stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God,” and singing “the song of Moses” and the Lamb. Revelation 15:2, 3. {AA 589.1}

The Saviour is presented before John under the symbols of “the Lion of the tribe of Judah” and of “a Lamb as it had been slain.” Revelation 5:5, 6. These symbols represent the union of omnipotent power and self-sacrificing love. The Lion of Judah, so terrible to the rejectors of His grace, will be the Lamb of God to the obedient and faithful. The pillar of fire that speaks terror and wrath to the transgressor of God’s law is a token of light and mercy and deliverance to those who have kept His commandments. The arm strong to smite the rebellious will be strong to deliver the loyal. Everyone who is faithful will be saved. “He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” Matthew 24:31. {AA 589.2}

In comparison with the millions of the world, God’s people will be, as they have ever been, a little flock; but if they stand for the truth as revealed in His word, God will be their refuge. They stand under the broad shield of Omnipotence. God is always a majority. When the sound of the last trump shall penetrate the prison house of the dead, and the righteous shall come forth with triumph, exclaiming, “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” (1 Corinthians 15:55)—standing then with God, with Christ, with the angels, and with the loyal and true of all ages, the children of God will be far in the majority. {AA 590.1}

Christ’s true disciples follow Him through sore conflicts, enduring self-denial and experiencing bitter disappointment; but this teaches them the guilt and woe of sin, and they are led to look upon it with abhorrence. Partakers of Christ’s sufferings, they are destined to be partakers of His glory. In holy vision the prophet saw the ultimate triumph of God’s remnant church. He writes: {AA 590.2}

Note by Ron: The true remnant church is the 144,000 as to following context to the above reveals. End note:

I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory ... stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are Thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are Thy ways, Thou King of saints.” Revelation 15:2, 3. {AA 590.3}

And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the Mount Sion, and with Him a hundred forty and four thousand, having His Father’s name written in their foreheads.” Revelation 14:1. In this world their minds were consecrated to God; they served Him with the intellect and with the heart; and now He can place His name “in their foreheads.” “And they shall reign for ever and ever.” Revelation 22:5. They do not go in and out as those who beg a place. They are of that number to whom Christ says, “Come, ye blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” He welcomes them as His children, saying, “Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” Matthew 25:34, 21. {AA 590.4}

These are they which follow the Lamb withersoever He goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the first fruits unto God and to the Lamb.” Revelation 14:4. The vision of the prophet pictures them as standing on Mount Zion, girt for holy service, clothed in white linen, which is the righteousness of the saints. But all who follow the Lamb in heaven must first have followed Him on earth, not fretfully or capriciously, but in trustful, loving, willing obedience, as the flock follows the shepherd. {AA 591.1}

I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: and they sung as it were a new song before the throne: ... and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.... In their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.” Verses 2-5. {AA 591.2}

And I John saw the Holy City, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” “Her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; and had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel.” “The twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.” Revelation 21:2, 11, 12, 21, 22. {AA 591.3}

And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and His servants shall serve Him: and they shall see His face; and His name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light.” Revelation 22:3-5. {AA 592.1}

He showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.” “Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” Verses 1, 2, 14. {AA 592.2}

And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, And He will dwell with them, And they shall be His people, And God Himself shall be with them, And be their God.” Revelation 21:3. {AA 592.3}

An Application of the Laodicean Seventh-day Adventist Church as Reverting to the Sardis State

Ellen White made some very important references to the church of Sardis, that have been completely ignored by Seventh-day Adventists. Here are those statements:

1-5 (Matthew 22:14). A Few Faithful Ones in Sardis—The church of Sardis is represented as having in it a few faithful ones among the many who had become, as it were, careless and insensible of their obligations to God. “Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.” Who is so favored as to be numbered among these few in Sardis? Are you? Am I? Who are among this number? Is it not best for us to inquire into this matter, in order that we may learn to whom the Lord refers when He says that a few have not stained their white robes of character (Manuscript 81, 1900)? {7BC 959.3}

(Revelation 3:14-18.) Read the Third Chapter of Revelation—In the message to the church at Sardis two parties are presented—those who have a name to live, but are dead; and those who are striving to overcome. Study this message, found in the third chapter of Revelation. [Revelation 3:1, 2 quoted.] Who are meant by those that are ready to die? and what has made them thus? The explanation is given, “I have not found thy works perfect before God.” [Revelation 3:3-5 quoted.] {7BC 959.4}

To the church of the present day this message is sent. I call upon our church members to read the whole of the third chapter of Revelation, and to make an application of it. The message to the church of the Laodiceans applies especially to the people of God today. It is a message to professing Christians who have become so much like the world that no difference can be seen [Revelation 3:14-18 quoted] (RH August 20, 1903). {7BC 959.5}

In Ellen White’s day, the church was still Laodicean and that message certainly applied to the SDA church at that time. But her statement goes beyond Laodicea. She says to read the whole of the third chapter of Revelation and to make an application of it. I asked the Lord why she would say that, what she meant, and what application we should make of the entire third chapter, which includes Philadelphia and Laodicea along with Sardis. The Lord showed me that the church can revert to any of the rebuked positions of any and all of the churches and that Ellen White’s statements below were applicable in that Adventists had a name to live but were dead in their lukewarm state, though a few had not so defiled their garments and would be saved.

Revelation 3, Message to Sardis:

1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.

2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.

3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

The angel of the Lord showed me the following counsels to each of the seven churches that are now applicable to the SDA church:

Because of adopting Rome’s central doctrine on the Godhead, the Trinity Doctrine in 1980, the church has become the Synagogue of Satan, while saying they are the spiritual counterpart of the Jews. The seriousness of the Trinity Doctrine is that it removes the heavenly Sanctuary/Atonement and thus the entire Christian economy. The Trinity Doctrine achieves this end by teaching that all three persons to the Godhead existed from eternity, which totally bypasses the humanity of Christ as the priest forever, because that did not occur until the Incarnation. In other words, before the Incarnation, there were only two persons, the Father, the Son. Their essence was Spirit, the Holy Spirit. God is a Spirit says Scripture. There is ONE eternal Spirit. That is what makes them both ONE GOD. At the Incarnation sacrifice, the Son emptied Himself of His Divine Only Spirit Being, to become God in the flesh, and combined with humanity forever, and as a priest forever in that combined state. This made a third person for never before was humanity any part of the Godhead. The Son divested His Holy Spirit Himself from the personality of His humanity. That made an extra person to the Godhead. Notice:

"Christ declared that after his ascension, he would send to his church, as his crowning gift, the Comforter, who was to take his place. This Comforter is the Holy Spirit,--the soul of his life, the efficacy of his church, the light and life of the world. With his Spirit Christ sends a reconciling influence and a power that takes away sin.

In the gift of the Spirit, Jesus gave to man the highest good that heaven could bestow....

The Spirit was given as a regenerating agency, and without this the sacrifice of Christ would have been of no avail....

It is by the Spirit that the heart is made pure. Through the Spirit the believer becomes a partaker of the divine nature. Christ has given his Spirit as a divine power to overcome all hereditary and cultivated tendencies to evil, and to impress his own character upon the church." E.G. White, Review and Herald Articles, May 19, 1904, vol. 5, p. 42.

"Cumbered with humanity Christ could not be in every place personally. Therefore it was altogether for their advantage that He should leave them to go to His Father and send the Holy Spirit to be His successor on earth. The Holy Spirit is Himself, divested of the personality of humanity and independent thereof. He would represent Himself as present in all places by His Holy Spirit" E.G. White, (Manuscript Releases Volume 14 (No’s 1081-1135) MR No.1084.

·       No apostasy could get any worse than teaching a doctrine that removes the entire Christian economy, and that is what the Trinity Doctrine does. Thereby, the SDA church formed a new movement, new organization that removed God, and the heavenly Incarnation Sanctuary Atonement. That is unpardonable sin after knowing the truth.

·       The church took an antichrist position on the human nature of Christ during the Evangelical Conferences from the mid 1950’s and on.

·       Based on the church’s antichrist human nature of Christ position, the church teaches against the Last Generation Theology taught by the Bible, Ellen White, and M. L. Andreasen. By that teaching, it is possible to overcome all known sin this side of glorification.

·       The natural results of the above heresies is the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, only believe, which was a fault leveled against Pergamos and Smyrna. Now the SDA church is guilty of that doctrine which Christ hates.

·       The SDA church entered into ecumenical liaison with the fallen Babylonian churches in the early 1960’s. For many years its officials lied about any membership in the National Councils of Churches in the U.S.A., and membership in the National Councils of Churches of some other countries.

·       In 1985, the World Council of Churches published a book entitled DIRECTORY CHRISTIAN COUNCILS, listing all the MEMBERS of its body. I sent and got a copy of that book in 1986. I gave a copy of the book to my home church members. The book is no longer published, but SDA’s are listed as FULL MEMBERS in the following countries:

1.    Hong Kong

2.    Bahamas

3.    Belize

4.    Sweden

5.    Cook Islands

In the 1986, there was a revolt by Hungarian SDA’s who opposed the MEMBERSHIP of the SDA church in The Hungarian Council of Free Churches. See this fact sheet for more on the strictly forbidden apostasy: http://omega77.tripod.com/factsheetecumenism.htm

What the above abominations amount to is conspiracy/confederacy with God’s enemies. In Jeremiah 11:9-15, God says not to even pray for anyone who does this. In verse 15, He asks what His beloved (bride) has to do in His once House, His church, since she has wrought lewdness with many and celebrates (rejoices) while doing such. Isaiah 8:9-12 gives the penalty for this type of apostasy as well. The only option is BROKEN IN PIECES, (KJV) stated three time for the seriousness of the offense against God. If you think the SDA church is merely lukewarm in light of this serious evidence, you will believe anything dumb-dog leader tell you, Isaiah 56:10-12, so it won’t really matter what you believe. You are in a lost condition.

"THE SECOND EPISTLE TO THE THESSALONIANS"

http://executableoutlines.com/2thess/2th2_1.htm

The Falling Away Must Come (2:1-3)

INTRODUCTION

1. Paul's epistles to the Thessalonians have much to say about the

   coming of Christ...

   a. Every chapter in 1st Thessalonians makes some reference to His

      return

   b. We have seen Paul refer to that great day coming in 2Th 1:7-10

2. It appears that misconceptions existed in the church at

   Thessalonica...

   a. At least some were being told that the day of Christ had come

   b. Paul writes to reassure them such was not the case - 2Th 1:1-2

3. Paul explains that before the Lord returns, two events must take

   place...

   a. The "falling away" will come first - 2Th 2:3

   b. The "man of sin" will be revealed - 2Th 2:3

[In this study, I would like for us to focus our attention on the

"falling away" as described in the Bible, as fulfilled in history, and

its implication for us today.  Let's start with the fact...]

I. A FALLING AWAY WOULD COME

   A. PAUL WARNED THE EPHESIAN ELDERS...

      1. It would occur after Paul's departure (death?) - Ac 20:29a

      2. It would be affected by forces outside and within the church

         - Ac 20:29b-30

   B. PAUL WARNED THE EVANGELIST TIMOTHY...

      1. In latter times some would depart from the faith - 1Ti 4:1-2

      2. Examples of the doctrines taught by the apostates are given

         - 1Ti 4:3

   C. PETER WARNED THE CHRISTIANS IN ASIA MINOR...

      1. There will be false teachers - 2Pe 2:1

      2. Many would follow their destructive ways - 2Pe 2:2

[The Scriptures are clear that a "falling away" or "apostasy" would

occur.  Did it happen?  Unfortunately, it did...]

II. A FALLING AWAY DID COME

   A. IT BEGAN IN THE FIRST CENTURY...

      1. John described it in his epistle

         a. Telling of "antichrists" who had gone out from them - 1Jn

            2:18-19

         b. Warning of "false prophets" who were already in the world

            - 1Jn 4:1-3

         -- Who were teaching false doctrines about the nature of Christ

      2. Jude described it in his epistle

         a. Certain men had crept in unnoticed - Jude 4a

         b. Ungodly men who turn the grace of God into lewdness - Jude 4b

         -- Who were denying the authority of Jesus Christ

   B. IT CONTINUED IN THE SUCCEEDING CENTURIES...

      1. One of the first changes involved local church organization

         a. From self-governing congregations with a plurality of

            bishops (elders) over each congregation - cf. Ac 14:23;

            20:17,28; Tit 1:5-9; 1Pe 5:1-2

         b. To a distinction between bishops and elders in which

            individual bishops had oversight of geographical areas and

            multiple churches (ca. 150 A.D.)

      2. Other changes were slowly introduced, as traditions of men took precedence over the Word of God

         a. Clergy-Laity distinction, borrowed from the OT Jewish

            priesthood concept

         b. Religious holidays, such as Easter; then later, Christmas

            (3rd, 4th century)

         c. Pouring, then sprinkling, in place of immersion for baptism

            (251 A.D.)

         d. Church councils, meetings in which doctrinal matters were

            decided (325 A.D.)

         e. Creeds, statements of beliefs developed by church councils

         f. Instrumental music (first used in the 5th century)

         -- Other doctrines developed along the way, such as original

            sin, infant baptism, penance, millenialism, veneration of

            Mary

   C. IT REMAINS IN THE PRESENT CENTURY...

      1. Appeals to "reformation" did not work

         a. Despite efforts of Luther, Calvin, etc., to reform the Roman

            Catholic church

         b. Their followers simply created a myriad of denominations,

            keeping some of the human traditions, and adding new ones of their own

      2. Appeals to new "revelation" have not worked

         a. Several have appealed to "modern-day" revelation, believing

            it to be the solution to the religious confusion

         b. Such efforts have only added to the confusion, with such

            religions as Mormons, Christian Science, Seventh-Day

            Adventists, Jehovah's Witnesses, and many Pentecostal

            churches

      3. The only solution that has a hope of working is "restoration"

         a. Like Ezra and Nehemiah did when they restored the Jewish

            worship after the Babylonian exile - cf. Neh 8:1-18

         b. Like John the Baptist did when he prepared the people for

            the coming of the Lord - cf. Lk 1:13-17

         c. I.e., restoring the hearts of the people back to the Word of

            God

            1) Taking heed to the Word of God is the only way to prevent

               apostasy - cf. He 2:1-4; Ac 20:32

            2) Restoring ourselves back to the Word of God is the only

               way to return from apostasy!

[A survey of church history confirms that a falling away from the New

Testament pattern has occurred, exactly as foretold by the apostles.

While it is always possible to be restored back to the New Testament

church, we should never forget that...]

III. A FALLING AWAY CAN STILL COME

   A. APOSTASY IS ALWAYS POSSIBLE...

      1. The Scriptures are filled with warnings against falling away

         a. Not just of a general apostasy, such as in our text

         b. But of individual apostasies as well - e.g., 1Ti 1:19-20;

            He 6:4-6; 2Pe 2:19-22

      2. Therefore we need to heed the warnings!

         a. To give the more earnest heed, lest we drift - He 2:1-3

         b. To not develop a heart of unbelief - He 3:12

         c. To not becoming hardened by sin - He 3:13

         d. To hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end

            - He 3:14; 6:11

   B. IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE...

      1. With the rise of Catholicism, and the development of

         denominationalism

      2. Previous restoration efforts have often reverted back to

         apostasy

         a. As with many in the Stone-Campbell movement

         b. E.g., the development of the Christian Church-Disciples of

            Christ denomination

   C. IT IS HAPPENING NOW...

      1. The pull of the world continues to draw many Christians away

         a. Just as it did with Demas - 2Ti 4:10

         b. So the love of money causes many to stray from the faith

            - 1Ti 6:9-10

      2. The appeal of denominationalism and sectarianism continues to have their affect

         a. E.g., the development of the International Church of Christ

         b. E.g., many "mainstream" churches of Christ developing the

            "Church of Christ" denomination

         c. I also see the beginning of a "Non-Institutional Church of

            Christ" denomination (as reflected in the question, "Can

            someone help me locate an NI Church?")

CONCLUSION

1. The "falling away" of which Paul wrote appears to have come...

   a. There has certainly been a general departure from the faith and

      practice of the NT

   b. This apostasy is clear to anyone familiar with the pattern of the

      NT church

2. But the danger of "falling away" is an ever present one...

   a. It has happened once and again, many times

   b. It happened to those who were once restored, it can happen to us just as easily

3. Apostasy rarely happens overnight...

   a. The path to departure is usually gradual, hardly noticed by those

      involved

   b. It begins with a mindset, develops through a pattern of speech

   c. It is encouraged by a desire to be like the world, rather than to

      be as God would have us

To avoid apostasy, make sure our hearts have been restored to the Word of God, then give earnest heed to the Word lest we drift away!
