157. My Vision on the Elijah Message

Part 3

Jhn 17:3   And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Prophecy must be fulfilled. The Lord says: “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.” Somebody is to come in the spirit and power of Elijah, and when he appears, men may say: “You are too earnest, you do not interpret the Scriptures in the proper way. Let me tell you how to teach your message.” Testimonies to Ministers, p. 475.

Men (plural) will go forth in the spirit and power of Elijah to prepare the way for the second advent of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is their work to make crooked things straight. Some things must be torn down, some things must be built up. The old treasures must be reset in a framework of truth. They are to preach God's Word; their testimony must not be molded by the opinions and ideas that have been regarded as sound, but by the Word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.” [1888 Mtl. p. 169 para. 01] p. 506, Para. 3, [1888MS].

This series is on a vision I received on Friday, January 5, 2018, on the Elijah Message to God’s people. Though somebody is to come in the spirit and power of Elijah, men of God in the persons of the 144,000 saints, will go forth in the spirit and power of Elijah to prepare the way for the second advent of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is their work to make crooked things straight. Some things must be torn down, some thing must be built up. The old treasures must be reset in a framework of truth. They are to preach God's Word; their testimony must not be molded by the opinions and ideas that have been regarded as sound, but by the Word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.

I want to explain a fact that will aid you in understanding my visions. I always state the thesis or conceptual subject of my vision in the opening paragraph, and then most of the remainder of the document is supporting data from the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy, which the Lord has shown to me at one time or another. There is the unavoidable factor of repetition of evidence since all truth is as a contingent chain. If you will remember this principle of my visions it will help you much in better understanding my visions. For example, in this vision, God showed me the precise message of Elijah to His people at this time. The rest is supporting evidence.

The first time Elijah was manifest to God’s people, it was to intervene in the apostate act of God’s people, of setting up false worship of false gods. That is the very same mission of Elijah now as he is being manifest to God’s people, because they have set up a false god and a false gospel. Elijah’s most startling message is that God’s once remnant people, have embraced the false god of the fallen mainline churches via the Trinity Doctrine, which obfuscates the Incarnation Sanctuary/Atonement sacrifice.

2. to make obscure or unclear:

to obfuscate a problem with extraneous information.

3. to darken.

How does the Trinity Doctrine obfuscate and make the Incarnation Sanctuary/Atonement sacrifice obscure? Obscure means conceal. How has Satan concealed the heavenly Incarnation Sanctuary/Atonement sacrifice? Satan was so successful in confusing, bewildering, stupefying, making obscure and unclear the truth on the Godhead and the Incarnation, that there is no other issue in Christianity that is as fraught with variables of false teaching.

Why would Satan want to make the Incarnation sacrifice obscure and unclear? Consider that the Incarnation sacrifice is the highest good, crowning gift that heaven can bestow. More than anything else involved with Christianity, this highest good, crowning gift, demonstrates the love of God. This gift provides for two major things:

1.    Pardon for Sin.

2.    Power for obedience in overcoming sin. Romans 1:5.

The problem is that most Christians want the pardon without the power! Mainstream Christianity deals in pardon only. It teaches that salvation is by grace as it relates to pardon, without the element of power to overcome sin. When Paul said that we are saved by grace and not of works, lest any man should boast, he meant that it is only the grace of Christ that saves us, and it is His Holy Spirit that empowers us to overcome, so no man can boast. Proof absolute that this is what Paul meant, is his and John’s treatise on sanctification. The two do not contradict one another, to wit:

Rom 1:5   By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:

Jhn 3:16   For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jhn 3:17   For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Jhn 3:18   He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Jhn 3:19   And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Jhn 3:20   For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

Jhn 3:21   But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Grace is the Holy Spirit POWER of Christ

They must have His grace, the Spirit of Christ, to help their infirmities, or they cannot form a Christian character. Jesus loves to have us come to Him, just as we are—sinful, helpless, dependent.” Faith and Works, p. 38.

There must be a power working from within, a new life from above, before man can be changed from sin to holiness. That power is Christ. His grace [the Spirit of Christ] alone can quicken the lifeless faculties of the soul, and attract it to God, to holiness.” (ST, May 28, 1902, par. 3).

Relationship Involving Cheap Grace Versus Empowerment by the Holy Spirit

The prescribed relationship in Scripture is to love God with all the heart, soul, mind and strength. There is A TEST OF SUCH LOVE. God says: If you love me, keep my commandments. Any leader or any book that stresses a relationship with God, without this formula straight from the Word, is a fraud leading souls to everlasting doom.

Christ was sent to bless us in turning away every one of us from our iniquities! That is the purpose of the Incarnation gift of the Holy Spirit.

Act 3:26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

SDA Leaders are Teaching that Obedience is not a Condition to Salvation

Where does the perverted doctrine of freedom from obedience come from. It’s roots are found in the Trinity Doctrine, which functions as though the gift that is proffered to us as a result of the Incarnation sacrifice doesn’t exist. How so? Because it teaches that there are three CO-ETERNAL PERSONS to the Godhead, and if that is true, there was no Incarnation sacrifice, because it was that sacrifice which provided the gift of the Holy Spirit Divine Nature for empowerment. If there were three co-equal ETERNAL persons to the Godhead, there would have to be FOUR PERSONS after the Incarnation sacrifice.

There were only two persons to the Godhead before the Incarnation sacrifice. The non-eternal humanity of Christ provided the third person. Teaching that there are/were three co-ETERNAL persons, in effect, removes the Incarnation sacrifice whereby a third person was adopted into the Godhead in the person of the humanity of Christ.

Cheap grace is a perversion of Paul’s teaching on grace as we discovered earlier in this document. Babylon teaches the “easy street,” popular doctrine of cheap grace, which totally omits the POWER part of grace, THE HOLY SPIRIT GIFT RESULTING FROM THE INCARNATION SACRIFICE, the highest good, crowning gift, without which Christ’s sacrifice on the cross would be of no avail but to pardon sin forever, because without the gift of the Holy Spirit, man could never overcome sin.

SDA leaders, in order to make religion more popular, are teaching that obedience is not a CONDITION to salvation. There are many BOOKS OF A NEW ORDER teaching this heresy which is part and parcel of the Omega heresy on the Godhead. These books of a new order have been written by men such as Heppenstahl, Roy Adams, Morris Venden, George Knight, Jack Sequiera, Desmond Ford, Woodrow Whidden, Robert Folkenberg, Marvin Moore, and others.

In George Knight’s imprimatur of Roy Adams’ book on The Nature of Christ, he stresses the difference between Christ and us, such as Christ not having our propensities to sin, and Christ being sired by the Holy Ghost. Whenever you see such sentiments, remember that Christ provided the gift whereby we may be BORN AGAIN OF THE SPIRIT, THE HOLY GHOST, and may partake of the Divine Nature of Christ, as well as having Christ abide IN US AND WE IN HIM. In light of this, why stress the differences? There is one prime reason—to assure men that they can be saved in their sin rather than from sin.

If there has been no Incarnation sacrifice, providing the gift of the Holy Spirit, it would be impossible to keep the commandments of God. The New Theology (Old lie) operates on the presumption that it is indeed impossible to keep the commandments because we don’t have the Holy Ghost as a sire as did Christ. But the leveler is that Christ proffers us His Divine Nature Holy Spirit that we may overcome the corruption that is in the world through lust. The fallen churches act in accordance with their false belief about the Godhead, which reduces to the heresy that the Incarnation, producing another person to the Godhead, namely the adopted humanity of Christ, never occurred. Thus, to them, we are entirely reliant on cheap grace. That is a lie of Satan. When we are reborn, we may receive the gift that resulted from the Incarnation, the highest good, crowning gift that heaven can bestow, which empowers us to overcome sin by the gift of the Holy Spirit.

2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Always remember that when Paul said we are saved by grace and not of works, lest any man should boast, he WAS NOT contradicting James who says we are saved by FAITH AND WORKS. When interpreted by all the weight of evidence, James means that we are saved by faith in and love for Christ, who gives us His grace to do His good will.

 All Paul meant is that we are saved by the grace (POWER) given for obedience (Romans 1:5), and not by any work that we do, because we can do nothing without the empowering GRACE (HOLY SPIRIT) of Christ. So we are saved by faith and the empowered works of Christ in and through us. He does it all LEST ANY MAN SHOULD BOAST. Christ in us, the hope of glory.

How Grace (Which Ellen White Defines as the Holy Spirit) Works

Without the grace of Christ, the sinner is in a hopeless condition; nothing can be done for him; but through divine grace, supernatural power is imparted to the man and works in mind and heart and character. It is through the impartation of the grace of Christ that sin is discerned in its hateful nature and finally driven from the soul temple. It is through grace that we are brought into fellowship with Christ, to be associated with Him in the work of salvation. Faith is the condition upon which God has seen fit to promise pardon to sinners; not that there is any virtue in faith whereby salvation is merited, but because faith can lay hold of the merits of Christ, the remedy provided for sin. Faith can present Christ’s perfect obedience instead of the sinner’s transgression and defection. When the sinner believes that Christ is his personal Saviour, then according to His unfailing promises, God pardons his sin and justifies him freely. The repentant soul realizes that his justification comes because Christ, as his Substitute and Surety, has died for him, is his atonement and righteousness. {FW 100.3}

Praying in the Holy Ghost

Jud 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,  cf Acts 9:31; Eph. 6:18

Adam Clarke’s Bible Commentary on the above verse. Ellen White often quoted Adam Clarke and she and James sold that commentary for a time.

Praying in the Holy Ghost - Holding fast the Divine influence which ye have received, and under that influence making prayer and supplication to God. The prayer that is not sent up through the influence of the Holy Ghost is never likely to reach heaven.” https://www.studylight.org/commentaries/acc/jude-1.html

If we can be born again and be partakers of the divine nature and be given grace (Holy Spirit) for obedience (Rom. 1:5), what excuse do we have for lack of obedience? The answer is NONE, and this is why obedience is a CONDITION for salvation.

So it is with every other one of God’s requirements. All His gifts are promised on condition of obedience. God has a heaven full of blessings for those who will co-operate with Him. All who obey Him may with confidence claim the fulfillment of His promises. {COL 145.1}

When a sinner becomes sensible of the fact that only through Christ can he gain eternal life; when he realizes that obedience to God’s Word is the condition of entrance into the kingdom of God; when he sees Christ as the propitiation for sin, he comes to the Saviour in humility and contrition, confessing his sins and seeking forgiveness. His soul is impressed with a sense of the majesty and glory of God. The blessedness of an eternal life of peace and joy and purity is felt so deeply that an entire surrender is made. {CEv 68.4}

A Lesson From Israel’s Failure

30. The Lord gave His word to ancient Israel, that if they would cleave strictly to Him, and do all His requirements, He would keep them from all the diseases such as He had brought upon the Egyptians; but this promise was given on the condition of obedience. Had the Israelites obeyed the instruction they received, and profited by their advantages, they would have been the world’s object lesson of health and prosperity. The Israelites failed of fulfilling God’s purpose, and thus failed of receiving the blessings that might have been theirs. But in Joseph and Daniel, in Moses and Elijah, and many others, we have noble examples of the results of the true plan of living. Like faithfulness today will produce like results. To us it is written, “Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9.—Testimonies for the Church 9:165, 1909 {CD 26.3}

"It is heart work that the Lord requires, good works springing from a heart filled with love. All should carefully and prayerfully ... investigate their motives and actions. The promise of God to us is on condition of obedience, compliance with all His requirements. Read Isaiah 58:1-3...." {CH 377.2}

Most Christian children learn the Bible verse John 3:16 at a very early age.

The Trinity Doctrinal Errors

The Trinity Doctrine teaches that there are three co-eternal heads of the Godhead on one body, rather than three distinct persons. The Trinity Doctrine also teaches that the three heads of the Godhead are co-eternal. That is not true. Before the Incarnation sacrifice, which resulted in the humanity person of Christ, as divested from His Divinity person, there were only TWO PERSONS. If there were THREE CO-ETERNAL PERSONS before the Incarnation sacrifice, there would have to be FOUR PERSONS after the Incarnation sacrifice, for that is when another person, the humanity of Christ, was added to the Godhead.

The effect of teaching the Trinity Doctrine that there are three CO-ETERNAL PERSONS to the Godhead, is to obfuscate the Sanctuary/Atonement sacrifice whereby a THIRD PERSON accrued to the Godhead by way of adoption into the Godhead. Satan has been so clever as to get professing Christians to believe in a doctrine which precludes the Sanctuary/Atonement, without them even perceiving what they have done. This is exactly what occurred in the Alpha heresy in the SDA church. The ministering brethren were looking on, but didn’t seem to understand the implications of Kellogg’s false ideas on the Godhead. Notice:

 Sanctuary Gone Atonement Gone -- "In a representation which passed before me, I saw a certain work being done by medical missionary workers. Our ministering brethren were looking on, watching what was being done, but they did not seem to understand. The foundation of our faith, which was established by so much prayer, such earnest searching of the Scriptures, was being taken down, pillar by pillar. Our faith was to have nothing to rest upon--the sanctuary was gone, the atonement was gone." E.G. White, The Upward Look, 152.

Why the Trinity Doctrine was Adopted by SDA’s at the World General Conference Session in 1980

Way back in Ellen White’s day, a new order of things had come into the SDA ministry. There was a strong desire to pattern after the other fallen churches. To this is added the fact that after the Evangelical Conferences with Dr. Walter Martin and Dr. Donald Grey Barnhouse in the mid-1950’s, Adventists were threatened by Martin. He threatened to refer to them as a cult in his forthcoming book, Kingdom of the Cults. In an over zealous effort to prove they weren’t a cult, SDA leaders LeRoy Froom and Roy Alan Anderson, cooperated with Martin and Barnhouse in altering the former SDA position on the human nature of Christ. They changed the book Bible Readings for the Home Circle, on the human nature of Christ. This was the first book of a new order. (1SM 204-205).

"A new order of things has COME INTO the ministry. There is a desire to pattern after other churches and simplicity and humility are almost unknown. The young ministers seek to be original, and to introduce new ideas and new plans for labor. Some open revival meetings, and by this means call large numbers into the church. But when the excitement is over, where are the converted ones? Repentance and confession of sin are not seen. The sinner is entreated to believe in Christ and accept Him, without regard to his past life of sin and rebellion. The heart is not broken. There is no contrition of soul. The supposed converted ones have not fallen upon the Rock, Christ Jesus." E.G. White, Selected Messages, vol. 2, pp. 18, 19.

What About all the Christians who Have Died Without a True Knowledge of the Godhead?

Ellen White said that we will be studying the Godhead for eternity. God shines new light on all His Word. I was shown that Elijah comes to expose how the Law of God and His Everlasting Covenant have been neglected and rejected. Elijah comes to recall to the mind the highest good, crowning gift that heaven can bestow, the gift of the soul of Christ’s life, His Holy Spirit, without which His death on the cross would have been of no avail, but to pardon sin forever, because there would be no power to overcome sin.

It is only when light comes that sin in imputed. John 9:41; 15:22; Acts 17:30. See reading in Chapter 174. of this book.”  Bible Readings for the Home, Chapter 61, p. 279.

It is crucial to recognize that Ellen White defined the truth about the Godhead, and called it a pillar, landmark doctrine. So Adventists have no excuse to be in ignorance of the truth on this issue that mainstream Christianity has been blind to for centuries. And Paul says there is really no excuse for not understanding the Godhead as far as we are given knowledge:

Rom 1:16  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Rom 1:17   For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Rom 1:18  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Rom 1:19   Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

Rom 1:20   For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Rom 1:21   Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Rom 1:22   Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

Rom 1:23   And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

Rom 1:24  Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

Rom 1:25   Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Rom 1:26  For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

Rom 1:27   And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Rom 1:28   And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Rom 1:29   Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

Rom 1:30   Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

Rom 1:31   Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

Rom 1:32   Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

The Truths of Redemption are Capable of Constant Development and Expansion

Elijah comes to develop and expand on the Godhead, in an effort to bring back the minds of men to the love of God, for His great sacrifices for man which have become almost obscure, and I refer to the sacrifice involved with the Incarnation, without which the sacrifice on the cross would have been of no avail:

"Jesus sought to inspire His disciples with the joy and hope that inspired His own heart. He rejoiced because the Holy Spirit was the highest of all gifts He could solicit from His Father for His people. The Spirit was to be given as a regenerating agent, and without this the sacrifice of Christ would have been of no avail. The power of evil had been strengthening for centuries, and the submission of men to satanic captivity was amazing. Sin could be resisted and overcome only through the mighty agency of the Third Person of the Godhead, who would come in the fullness of divine power. The Spirit makes effectual what has been wrought out by the world’s Redeemer. By the Spirit the heart is made pure. Christ has given His Spirit to overcome all hereditary and cultivated tendencies to evil, and to impress His own character on His church. The very image of God is to be reproduced in humanity. The honor of God, the honor of Christ, is involved in the perfection of the character of His people." {HLv 450.3}

"Christ declared that after his ascension, he would send to his church, as his crowning gift, the Comforter, who was to take his place. This Comforter is the Holy Spirit,--the soul of his life, the efficacy of his church, the light and life of the world. With his Spirit Christ sends a reconciling influence and a power that takes away sin.

In the gift of the Spirit [HIS LIFE--THE SOUL OF HIS LIFE], Jesus gave to man the highest good that heaven could bestow....

The Spirit was given as a regenerating agency, and without this the sacrifice of Christ would have been of no avail....

It is by the Spirit that the heart is made pure. Through the Spirit the believer becomes a partaker of the divine nature. Christ has given his Spirit as a divine power to overcome all hereditary and cultivated tendencies to evil, and to impress his own character upon the church." E.G. White, Review and Herald Articles, May 19, 1904, vol. 5, p. 42.

 “Ever since the first promise of redemption was spoken in Eden, the life, the character, and the mediatorial work of Christ have been the study of human minds. Yet every mind through whom the Holy Spirit has worked has presented these themes in a light that is fresh and new. The truths of redemption are capable of constant development and expansion. Though old, they are ever new, constantly revealing to the seeker for truth a greater glory and a mightier power.”

In every age there is a new development of truth, a message of God to the people of that generation. The old truths are all essential; new truth is not independent of the old, but an unfolding of it. It is only as the old truths are understood that we can comprehend the new. When Christ desired to open to His disciples the truth of His resurrection, He began "at Moses and all the prophets" and "expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself." Luke 24:27. But it is the light which shines in the fresh unfolding of truth that glorifies the old. He who rejects or neglects the new does not really possess the old. For him it loses its vital power and becomes but a lifeless form.” Christ’s Object Lessons, pp. 127, 128.

How does the Trinity Doctrine obfuscate the Incarnation Sanctuary/Atonement sacrifice?

"Most startling messages will be borne by men of God's appointment, messages of a character to WARN the people, to AROUSE them. And while some will be PROVOKED by the warning, and led to RESIST LIGHT AND EVIDENCE, we are to see from this that we are giving the TESTING MESSAGE FOR THIS TIME. Messages will be given OUT OF THE USUAL ORDER." Testimonies, vol. 9, p. 137.

Amazingly, the Adventist Review confessed that the Trinity Doctrine is MOST STARTLING, and WAS NOT generally held by the early SDA pioneers.

Adventist beliefs have changed over the years under the impact of ‘present truth’. Most startling is the teaching regarding Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Lord…… the Trinitarian understanding of God, now part of our fundamental beliefs, was not generally held by the early Adventists.” – Adventist Review, Jan 6, 1994. p.10.

Most of the founders of Seventh-day Adventism would not be able to join the church today if they had to subscribe to the denomination’s Fundamental Beliefs. More specifically, most would not be able to agree to belief number 2, which deals with the doctrine of the trinity.” – George R. Knight, Ministry, October 1993, p. 10.

The reason why YOU and most SDA pioneers would not be able to pledge belief in Fundamental doctrine number 2, of current day SDA beliefs, is because the Trinity Doctrine teaches that there are THREE CO-ETERNAL persons to the Godhead. The humanity of Christ is one of the THREE PERSONS, and His humanity IS NOT ETERNAL.

Since it was the incarnation sacrifice that produced the humanity of Christ, Christ come in the likeness of sinful flesh, it is a denial of the Incarnation to teach that all three persons of the Godhead are CO-ETERNAL. Thus, as in the Alpha heresy, the Sanctuary is GONE, the Atonement is GONE:

Sanctuary Gone Atonement Gone -- "In a representation which passed before me, I saw a certain work being done by medical missionary workers. Our ministering brethren were looking on, watching what was being done, but they did not seem to understand. The foundation of our faith, which was established by so much prayer, such earnest searching of the Scriptures, was being taken down, pillar by pillar. Our faith was to have nothing to rest upon--the sanctuary was gone, the atonement was gone." E.G. White, The Upward Look, 152.

Kellogg’s pantheism rendered the Sanctuary/Atonement gone by teaching that the Holy Spirit is in all things. Were that true, the heavenly Incarnation Sanctuary/Atonement sacrifice would be unnecessary, for the gift of the Holy Spirit which was provided by that sacrifice would already be in man. Thus his teaching rendered THE SANCTUARY GONE! THE ATONEMENT GONE!

By another route, the Trinity Doctrine also renders the Sanctuary and the Atonement GONE, by teaching that the three persons to the Godhead are CO-ETERNAL. If that is true, there was no Incarnation sacrifice, because it was the Incarnation sacrifice that produced a THIRD PERSON in the humanity of Christ, which was adopted into the Godhead:

"By His life and His death, Christ has achieved even more than recovery from the ruin wrought through sin. It was Satan's purpose to bring about an eternal separation between God and man but in Christ we become more closely united to God than if we had never fallen. In taking our nature, the Saviour has bound himself to humanity by a tie that is never to be broken. Through the eternal ages He is linked with us. 'God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son.' [John 3:16]. He gave Him not only to bear our sins, and to die as our sacrifice He gave Him to the fallen race. To assure us of His immutable counsel of peace, God gave His only Begotten Son to become one of the human family forever to retain His human nature. This is the pledge that God will fulfill His word. 'Unto us a child is born unto us a son is given and the government shall be upon His shoulder.' God has adopted human nature in the person of His Son, and has carried the same into the highest heaven. It is the 'Son of man' who shares the throne of the universe. It is the 'Son of man' whose name shall be called, 'Wonderful, Counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the prince of Peace.' [Isa. 9:6]. The I Am is the Daysman between God and humanity, laying His hand upon both. HE who is 'holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners,' is not ashamed to call us brethren. [Heb. 7:26 2:11.] In Christ the family of earth and the family of heaven are bound together. Christ glorified is our brother. Heaven is enshrined in humanity, and humanity is enfolded in the bosom of Infinite love." The Desire of Ages, 25.

Elijah Prepares the Way for Jesus to Come

Those who reject the testimony of Elijah will not be benefited by the teachings of Jesus. Those who reject the truth regarding the humanity of Christ as being ANOTHER PERSON TO THE GODHEAD, and NOT ETERNAL, thereby reject and crucify Christ afresh, by denying His Incarnation sacrifice whereby a third person accrued to the Godhead.

I was pointed back to the proclamation of the first advent of Christ. John was sent in the spirit and power of Elijah to prepare the way of Jesus. Those who rejected the testimony of John were not benefited by the teachings of Jesus. Their opposition to the message that foretold His coming placed them where they could not readily receive the strongest evidence that He was the Messiah. Satan led on those who rejected the message of John to go still farther, to reject and crucify Christ. In doing this they placed themselves where they could not receive the blessing on the day of Pentecost, which would have taught them the way into the heavenly sanctuary. The rending of the veil of the temple showed that the Jewish sacrifices and ordinances would no longer be received. The great Sacrifice had been offered and had been accepted, and the Holy Spirit which descended on the day of Pentecost carried the minds of the disciples from the earthly sanctuary to the heavenly, where Jesus had entered by His own blood, to shed upon His disciples the benefits of His atonement. But the Jews were left in total darkness. They lost all the light which they might have had upon the plan of salvation, and still trusted in their useless sacrifices and offerings. The heavenly sanctuary had taken the place of the earthly, yet they had no knowledge of the change. Therefore they could not be benefited by the mediation of Christ in the holy place. {EW 259.1}

Elijah’s spirit of revival and reform was predicted in Scripture to return. Speaking of the birth of John the Baptist, the angel Gabriel said to Zacharias: “He shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord” (Luke 1:17).

Gabriel was the first to identify that John the Baptist fulfilled this prophecy in Malachi. John was to precede the Lord to do a special work of revival and reform. Jesus later confirmed this fact when He said, “For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come” (Matthew 11:13, 14).

Malachi’s prophecy, however, did not end with John the Baptist because there is also a modern-day fulfillment. Notice that the prophecy says, “I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.” The “great and dreadful day of the Lord,” which is also called “the great day of his wrath” in Revelation 6:17 is synonymous with the second coming. So this other fulfillment points us to a period just prior to the return of Jesus the second time.

Spirit and Power of Elijah

 To better understand this prophecy, we need to look back at the time of Elijah. Here we discover that the first person filled with the “spirit and power of Elijah” was not John the Baptist, but rather Elisha, the servant of Elijah.

When God revealed that He was about to take Elijah to heaven, Elisha asked that he might receive a double portion of Elijah’s spirit. “Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. And he [Elijah] said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so” (2 Kings 2:9, 10).

 As Elisha witnessed Elijah’s rapture, he was baptized with the double portion of Elijah’s spirit that he had requested. “When the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha” (2 Kings 2:15).

 What will the Spirit and power of Elijah do? “He shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers” (Malachi 4:6). In a literal sense, real revival brings about a new expression of love to the family and then spreads from there into the community. The most basic unit of any society, government, or church is the family.

The outpouring of God’s Spirit will always result in love that leads to obedience to His commandments. Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15).

 This would, of course, include the commands that say: “Honor thy father and thy mother,” and “Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged” (Exodus 20:12; Colossians 3:21).

The Elijah message will bestow the power of love and blessing into the families who receive it, and a curse upon those who reject it (Malachi 4:6). “I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments” (Exodus 20:5, 6). The angel Gabriel rewords the prophecy a little: “And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord” (Luke 1:16, 17). So in a spiritual sense, the Elijah message will also work to unite disobedient earthly children with their heavenly Father.

What follows is Doug Batchelor’s twelve point description of the Elijah message. Notice that he says nothing about the Testator of the Everlasting Covenant, which Elijah deals with in order to return the hearts of men to the fathers.

Twelve Characteristics of the Elijah Message

Let’s look at the twelve outstanding characteristics of Elijah and John the Baptist that will also be present in the Elijah message of the last days. Amazing Facts has adopted these points as a prominent part of its aim and mission.

1.They were bold and fearless in preaching, even before kings.

Elijah: Elijah told King Ahab, “I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father’s house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the Lord, and thou hast followed Baalim” (1 Kings 18:18).

John: “John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother’s wife” (Mark 6:18).

Note by Ron: Our message has gone to the leaders of the church and to the leaders of the world. It is available online to the entire world.

Both John the Baptist and Elijah were fearless in preaching a straight message before rulers and governors. Jesus said that this would happen again in the last days. “Ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them” (Mark 13:9). We must not seek to find our approval among men but rather with God. In order to effect a great revival, the Elijah message must be a bold proclamation of clear, uncompromising, and sometimes unpopular truth.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (2 Timothy 4:3, 4)

2.    They had a simple diet and lifestyle.

Elijah: “Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand” (1 Kings 17:11).

John: “He did eat locusts and wild honey” (Mark 1:6).

Both Elijah and John were known for their simplicity in diet and for wilderness living. These basic rigors kept their mental faculties clear and their bodies strong, so that they might be prepared for the special work God called them to do.

Likewise, the church in the last days must be revived to the truth so that a strong connection links the body and the spirit. What we eat and drink, as well as our personal living habits, have a direct effect on our mental clarity and ability to discern truth. The power to resist temptation can be traced in part to a simple diet and moderate lifestyle. Remember, sin came upon the human race as a result of eating the wrong thing.

Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness! (Ecclesiastes 10:17)

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31)

3.    They dressed in modest, simple clothing.

Elijah: “He was an hairy man [with a garment of hair], and girt with a girdle [belt] of leather about his loins [waist]” 2 Kings 1:8.

John: “John was clothed with camel’s hair, and with a girdle of a skin [leather belt] about his loins [waist]” (Mark 1:6).

In the time when kings and priests loved to wear ornaments and long, flowing robes, Elijah and John’s modesty and simplicity were a stinging rebuke. We live in an age when there has never been more arrogant attention given to flamboyance and fashion. The main goal of modern clothing designers is to highlight a person’s sexuality. Sadly, everything from body piercing to tattoos is being indulged even among professed Christians. Once again, the church desperately needs last-day Elijahs to witness for Christ by their example of humility and simplicity through modest clothing and appearance.

Put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (Ephesians 4:24)

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness [propriety] and sobriety [moderation]; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array [clothing]. (1 Timothy 2:9)

4. They believed in discipling others.

Elijah: “So he departed thence, and found Elisha . . . and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him” (1 Kings 19:19).

John: “And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things” (Luke 7:18).

The Scriptures record that Elijah not only discipled Elisha, but he also visited the schools of the prophets (also translated “the disciples of the prophets”), which were in the land of Israel (2 Kings, chapter 2). These training centers combined spiritual instruction with practical work skills. The young men trained at the schools of the prophets traveled throughout Israel, teaching others the ways of God.

John, likewise, reproduced his faith by teaching the disciples who followed him. Both John and Elijah spent most of their time training the common people rather than the priests and the Levites. Similarly, the last great movement of God will not only be led by clergy alone, but also by Spirit-filled lay persons. This is why the Elijah message must give attention to training, discipling, and mobilizing every member of God’s church.

5. They preached a baptism of repentance and death to self.

Elijah: “Elijah said unto him, Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the Lord hath sent me to Jordan” (2 Kings 2:6).

John: “Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan, and were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins” (Matthew 3:5, 6).

One identifying mark of the Elijah message is that it calls people to the Jordan River—a symbol of repentance and baptism. The children of Israel had to cross the Jordan River to enter the Promised Land, just as we enter the waters of baptism to cross from our sinful lives to new lives in Jesus. The great commission of Jesus to the church will have its finest hour in the future when once again these modern Elijahs will baptize converts to Christ in explosive, Pentecostal numbers.

Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. (2 Kings 5:14)

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. (Matthew 28:19)

6. They both manifested humility.

Elijah: “And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees” (1 Kings 18:42).

John: “He that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear” (Matthew 3:11).

Before Jesus comes again, the people of God will have learned to reflect the meek and humble character of Jesus in an age of arrogance and pride.

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? (Micah 6:8)

7. They both endured religious persecution.

Elijah: “Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them [who had been killed] by to morrow about this time” (1 Kings 19:2).

John: “She went forth, and said unto her mother [Herodias], What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist” (Mark 6:24).

In the Old Testament, a pagan queen named Jezebel married Ahab, the king of Israel. Jezebel and her daughter, Athaliah, persecuted God’s people and tried to entice Ahab to kill Elijah and the other prophets. In the New Testament, Herodias, the pagan wife of king Herod, and her daughter Salome succeeded in enticing Herod to kill John the Baptist.

The persecution experienced by Elijah and John will soon be repeated. In the last days, Revelation tells us, the “Mother of harlots” and her daughters will persecute God’s remnant people, the last-day Elijah’s.

The dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. (Revelation 12:17)

Upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. (Revelation 17:5, 6)

8.They both ran before the king.

Elijah: “The hand of the Lord was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel” (1 Kings 18:46).

John: “As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias [Isaiah] the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight” (Luke 3:4).

When a monarch traveled in Bible times, servants often ran ahead to prepare the path for the approaching king. They cleared the road of rocks and obstacles, filled in potholes, cut down high spots, and straightened the crooked turns. In the same way, those preaching the Elijah message in the last days will help prepare people for the coming of our King Jesus. They will proclaim a message that makes the way of salvation clear, plain, and easy to understand.

Note by Ron: In Isaiah 62, it is the bride (True Reformers) who prepare the way for the Lord and give the final Midnight Cry to the ten virgins.

And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people. (Revelation 14:6)

9.They were both supremely interested in glorifying God.

Elijah: “Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again” (1 Kings 18:37).

John: “He must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:30).

Those preaching the Elijah message will make glorifying God their top priority. They will be wholly consecrated to God’s cause, just as were John and Elijah. They will be willing to make any sacrifice in order that others might be saved—in other words, to spend and be spent in the work of God.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. (Romans 12:1)

10. They repaired the altar of God.

Elijah: “Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down” (1 Kings 18:30).

John: “In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 3:1, 2).

The Elijah message will be a trumpet call to return to “the faith which was once delivered unto the saints” (Jude 3). Today, when so many tell us that the teachings of the Bible are old-fashioned and need to be revised to better fit our times, we desperately need to be reminded that God said, “For I am the Lord, I change not” (Malachi 3:6).

They that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in. (Isaiah 58:12)

11. Their messages sparked revival and reformation.

Elijah: “Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel,” “And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him” (1 Kings 18:19, 21).

John: “John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins” (Mark 1:4, 5).

In the days of Elijah and John the Baptist, God’s people had been corrupted by the pagan influences around them and had compromised God’s truth (1 Kings 19:14; Matthew 3:1, 2). These two brave prophets delivered a message that sparked revival and reform among God’s people.

Today, once again, it seems that much of Christianity is lukewarm and worldly. If judgment is going to begin at God’s house (Ezekiel 9:6; 1 Peter 4:17), then certainly the revival must start there too! Since God’s plan is for His people to reach the entire world, He must first send the Elijah message to reach the church.

In the Old Testament, Elijah led the people to repent and return to God on Mount Carmel. Then he prayed, and God sent abundant rain to end the drought. Likewise, John the Baptist called upon the people of his day to repent and accept Jesus. Shortly thereafter, they received the former rain of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. Modern Elijahs will also preach a message of repentance. Then, when the church humbles itself, the latter rain of God’s Spirit will fall. ERRORERRORERROR per Ezekiel 22:23.

12.The Elijah message will point people to Christ.

Elijah: “Elijah the prophet came near, and said, Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God” (1 Kings 18:36).

John: “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29).

The burning desire of modern Elijahs will be to turn people to Jesus that they might know Him and have everlasting life.

God’s Army

 If the Lord deemed it important to send a special messenger to prepare Israel for Jesus’ first coming, how much more important is it for Him to send a special message and messengers to awaken the church for Jesus’ second coming, the very climax of redemption?

 In the same way that the Lord empowered Elijah, Elisha, and John the Baptist to do a work of revival and preparation, God is today preparing an army of last-day Elijahs to do a great work of revival! Jesus invites every one of you in this great gathering of Adventist youth to be a part of delivering this great, end-time Elijah message: “To make ready a people prepared for the Lord” (Luke 1:17).

When a man is filled with the Spirit, the more severely he is tested and tried, the more clearly he proves that he is a representative of Christ. — 6SDA Bible Commentary, pp. 1117, 1118

End of Doug Batchelor’s version of the Elijah message.

Ron’s Commentary:

It’s going to take more than the three angel’s message to awaken the world. Adventists have had that message for more than 160 years, and they are just like the world, and have imbibed gross apostasy in a quest to be like the world, and to be liked by the world.

The real Elijah message deals with how God’s covenant has been breached and depicts the worst abomination possible associated with the breach in God’s law—the Trinity Doctrine, which makes the truth about Christ’s full Incarnation sacrifice obscure, so that most professing Christians are teaching an antichrist position on the Godhead, which is precisely as Satan has designed. The Trinity Doctrine renders the Sanctuary GONE; the Atonement GONE. The only source bringing this great apostasy to light is the true Elijah message to God’s people. Men like Doug Batchelor and other leaders in the church don’t even mention this abomination of all abominations.

God is love, and Ellen White correctly states that only love will win anyone to Christ. There is no greater demonstration of God’s love to man, than Christ’s Testator sacrifice of divesting Himself from His former existence as Divine Nature Holy Spirit ONLY, to come in the likeness of sinful human nature, and to retain that human nature, WITHOUT THE OMNI’S that human nature cumbers, FOREVER.

The Everlasting gospel includes all that Christ has sacrificed for man. The general concept of the gospel includes only what Christ did for us on the cross. Mainline Christianity, and sad to say, Adventists, are totally ignorant of the highest good, crowning gift, THE COMFORTER, THE HOLY SPIRIT, THE SOUL OF THE LIFE OF CHRIST. This refers to His DIVINE LIFE, for the Comforter is the Divine life of Christ. The Son of God has a FULLY DIVINE LIFE AND A FULLY HUMAN LIFE. These two lives are TWO DISTINCT PERSONS.

The Two Distinct Persons of the Son of God

"Cumbered with humanity Christ could not be in every place personally, therefore it was altogether for their advantage that He should leave them to go to His Father and send the Holy Spirit to be His successor on earth. The Holy Spirit is Himself divested of the personality of humanity and independent thereof. He would represent Himself as present in all places by His Holy Spirit.” E.G. White, (Manuscript Releases Volume 14 (No’s 1081-1135) MR No.1084.

Christ’s Holy Spirit Comforter HIMSELF, is divested of (separate from) the personality of His humanity and INDEPENDENT THEREOF. The humanity of Christ does not possess the OMNI’S. Christ died to His former DIVINE ONLY state of existence FOREVER. He does not go back to heaven and take back His OMNI’S, as Vance Ferrell says He does.

If Christ took back the Omni’s when He went to heaven, He would not need to send “ANOTHER COMFORTER,” HIS HOLY SPIRIT. Also, if He took back the Omni’s, He would violate the Testator’s Testament (Covenant), that says while the Testator liveth, the Testament is of no strength. The Atonement would be null and void.

Heb 9:16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.

Heb 9:17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

Christ took the death that was ours, a form of ETERNAL DEATH TO HIS FORMER LIFE OF BEING DIVINE ONLY, to become human forever. This is the highest good, crowning gift to mankind.

John chapter 14, states the Godhead as simply as it can be presented. Jesus in His humanity is speaking to Thomas (v.3) and Judas (Not Iscariot) v. 22.

In verse 18, Jesus identifies Himself as the Comforter when He says I will come to you. Jhn 14:18   I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Jhn 14:1  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

Jhn 14:2   In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Jhn 14:3   And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Jhn 14:4   And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

Jhn 14:5  Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

Jhn 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Jhn 14:7  If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

Jhn 14:8  Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

Jhn 14:9  Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

Jhn 14:10   Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

Jhn 14:11   Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

Jhn 14:12  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Jhn 14:13   And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Jhn 14:14   If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Jhn 14:15  If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Jhn 14:16   And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Jhn 14:17   Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Jhn 14:18   I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Jhn 14:19  Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

Jhn 14:20   At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

Jhn 14:21   He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Jhn 14:22  Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?

Jhn 14:23  Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

Jhn 14:24   He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

Jhn 14:25  These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.

Jhn 14:26   But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Jhn 14:27   Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Jhn 14:28   Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

Jhn 14:29  And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

Jhn 14:30   Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

Jhn 14:31   But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

The eternal life that we receive is from Christ:

"He (Christ) suffered the death which was ours, that we might receive the life which WAS His." Desire of Ages, p. 25 1 Cor. 11:24-265, cf. John 6:53, 54, Titus 3:5, 6.

The life that WAS HIS (PAST TENSE) is His Divine Holy Spirit PERSON. The death which was ours is eternal death. He divested (emptied) Himself of His former DIVINE HOLY SPIRIT LIFE, so as to give it to us. That emptying is FOREVER. Christ remains human forever:

"But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood."  Hebrews 7:24.

Christ has carried His humanity into eternity. He stands before God as the representative of our race. When we are clothed with the wedding garment of His righteousness, we become one with Him, and He says of us, “They shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.” His saints will behold Him in His glory, with no dimming veil between.”—The Youth’s Instructor, October 28, 1897 quoted in The S.D.A. Bible Commentary 7:925. {Hvn 74}

This is the complete discourse on what Christ has done for us. If folk are supposed to be moved by what Jesus did on the cross, how much more should they be moved by what He did for us BEFORE THE CROSS, which is defined as His “highest good, crowning gift that heaven could bestow,” the gift of His Holy Spirit eternal life. This message should accompany any delivery of the three angel’s messages because it is part and parcel with the Everlasting Gospel, because it is all about the Everlasting Covenant, His law, which cannot be divorced from the gospel.

Present Love and Law Together

Man broke God’s law. Man was thus committed to eternal death. But God’s love provided for unfathomable sacrifices on the part of His Son in order that man might be redeemed from sin.

In presenting the binding claims of the law, many have failed to portray the infinite love of Christ. Those who have so great truths, so weighty reforms to present to the people, have not had a realization of the value of the atoning Sacrifice as an expression of God’s great love to man. Love for Jesus, and Jesus’ love for sinners, have been dropped out of the religious experience of those who have been commissioned to preach the gospel, and self has been exalted instead of the Redeemer of mankind. The law is to be presented to its transgressors, not as something apart from God, but rather as an exponent of His mind and character. As the sunlight cannot be separated from the sun, so God’s law cannot be rightly presented to man apart from the divine Author. The messenger should be able to say, “In the law is God’s will; come, see for yourselves that the law is what Paul declared it to be—‘holy, and just, and good.’” It reproves sin, it condemns the sinner, but it shows him his need of Christ, with whom is plenteous mercy and goodness and truth. Though the law cannot remit the penalty for sin, but charges the sinner with all his debt, Christ has promised abundant pardon to all who repent, and believe in His mercy. The love of God is extended in abundance to the repenting, believing soul. The brand of sin upon the soul can be effaced only through the blood of the atoning Sacrifice. No less an offering was required than the sacrifice of Him who was equal with the Father. The work of Christ—His life, humiliation, death, and intercession for lost man—magnifies the law, and makes it honorable.” {1SM 371.1}

Many sermons preached upon the claims of the law have been without Christ, and this lack has made the truth inefficient in converting souls. Without the grace of Christ it is impossible to take one step in obedience to the law of God. Then how necessary that the sinner hear of the love and power of his Redeemer and Friend! While the ambassador for Christ should plainly declare the claims of the law, he should make it understood that none can be justified without the atoning sacrifice of Christ. Without Christ there can be only condemnation and a fearful looking for a fiery indignation, and final separation from the presence of God. But he whose eyes have been opened to see the love of Christ, will behold the character of God as full of love and compassion. God will not appear as a tyrannical, relentless being, but as a father longing to embrace his repenting son. The sinner will cry with the psalmist, “Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him” (Psalm 103:13). All despair is swept from the soul when Christ is seen in His true character.” {1SM 371.2}

Foolish virgin men and women are saying that the issue of the Godhead is not important. It is the most important issue in Christianity, because of the fact that it speaks to everything Christ sacrificed for us, and any error in this matter sweeps away the entire Christian economy.

"The spiritualistic theories regarding the personality of God [the Godhead], followed to their logical conclusion, sweep away the whole Christian economy. They estimate as nothing the light that Christ came from heaven to give John to give to His people. They teach that the scenes just before us are not of sufficient importance to be given special attention. They make of no effect the truth of heavenly origin, and rob the people of God of their past experience, giving them instead a false science." E.G. White, Selected Messages, Bk.1, p. 204.
