130. My Vision on the Godhead as Being Totally

Antithetical to Arianism

Arianism; An influential heresy denying the divinity of Christ, originating with the Alexandrian priest Arius (250-336). Arianism maintained that the Son of God was created by the Father and was therefore neither coeternal with the Father, nor consubstantial (having the same substance or essence).

Hebrews 1:8 But of the Son he says, “Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever, the righteous scepter is the scepter of thy kingdom.”

1Jo 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Pro 8:25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:

Pro 8:24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.

Jhn 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

Psa 90:2  Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

In the early morning hours, Thursday, May 25, 2017, I was given the following vision representing the Godhead as the greatest portrayal of God’s especial love for His created intelligent creatures. I had supplicated the Holy Spirit as to the full meaning of His Son being possessed, begotten, and brought forth. I had prayed for a better understanding of the statements in the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy which “appeared” to support a form of Arianism. I had also prayed for a fuller understanding of the meaning of Christ having been slain from the foundation of the world, and the following texts of Scripture, and statements by Ellen G. White:

Heb 5:5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.

1Jo 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

1Jo 5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

Jhn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

1Jo 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

Jhn 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Heb 1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

Jhn 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Act 13:33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

Rev 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Pro 8:22   The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

Pro 8:23   I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. [Everlasting and Beginning mean eternal because there was no beginning, and set up refers to the Son being ordained as Testator of the Everlasting Covenant. This I was shown.]

Pro 8:24   When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.

Pro 8:25   Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:

Pro 8:26   While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.

Pro 8:27   When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

Pro 8:28   When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:

Pro 8:29   When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

Pro 8:30   Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;

Pro 8:31   Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.

Pro 8:32   Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.

Pro 8:33   Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.

Pro 8:34   Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

Pro 8:35   For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.

Pro 8:36   But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

The relevance of “other worlds” will become apparent as you read through this vision.

"Through faith we understand that the worlds 'were framed by the word of God." Heb. 11:3.

Heb 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

The Lord has given me a view of other worlds. Wings were given me, and an angel attended me from the city to a place that was bright and glorious. The grass of the place was living green, and the birds there warbled a sweet song. The inhabitants of the place were of all sizes; they were noble, majestic, and lovely. They bore the express image of Jesus, and their countenances beamed with holy joy, expressive of the freedom and happiness of the place. I asked one of them why they were so much more lovely than those on the earth. The reply was, “We have lived in strict obedience to the commandments of God, and have not fallen by disobedience, like those on the earth.” ... I begged of my attending angel to let me remain in that place. I could not bear the thought of coming back to this dark world again. Then the angel said, “You must go back, and if you are faithful, you, with the 144,000, shall have the privilege of visiting all the worlds and viewing the handiwork of God.” Early Writings, 39, 40. {AH 543.2}

·       Those of other worlds have the express image of Jesus.

·       We were created in the image of Jesus. Both we and they have the one same image of Jesus.

The work of God’s dear Son in undertaking to link the created with the Uncreated, the finite with the Infinite, in His own divine person, is a subject that may well employ our thoughts for a lifetime. This work of Christ was to confirm the beings of other worlds in their innocency and loyalty, as well as to save the lost and perishing of this world. He opened a way for the disobedient to return to their allegiance to God, while by the same act He placed a safeguard around those who were already pure, that they might not become polluted.” {MYP 253.3}

In my vision, I was shown the following representation of how the Godhead functions. I was shown that this description of the Godhead answers to all the “apparent” contradictions in Scripture and the Spirit of Prophecy concerning the deity of Christ and His relation to His Father. It also totally refutes all negative Arian inferences regarding the deity of Christ.

·       The Son of God existed from eternity as God in the highest sense with the Father, as one brought up with Him.

·       God is love and in His great love for man, His special intelligent creation, He desired to communicate with humans. “They (Adam and Eve in context) were to have His favor, and He was to converse with them and they with Him.” E. G. White, Story of Redemption, p. 24. “The holy pair were not only children under the fatherly care of God, but students receiving instruction from the all-wise Creator. They were visited by angels, and were granted communion with their Maker, with no obscuring veil between.” E. G. White, Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 50.

·       Since the glory of the presence of God is as a consuming fire to man, God had to represent Himself to His intelligent creatures in an altered state by which He was “brought forth/begotten” from His “God in the highest sense” form, to a form of Being man could endure. This transformation was from God in the highest sense, rather than the errant Arian notion that the Son was created as a lesser emanation from the Father. I was shown that this simple factual interpretation resolves all and any “apparent” contradiction(s) in the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy.

·       The reference to the Son being slain from the foundation of the world, refers to the fact that His altered state in coming to this world as the God/man in sinful flesh, would result in Him being fully human forever, while His Divine Nature Holy Spirit person was divested from His humanity and His humanity was independent thereof. Though the Incarnation of the Son of God was activated by the Holy Ghost siring Mary, I was shown that the conversion process of the Incarnation sacrifice began in the heavenly Sanctuary from the foundation of this earth, while the provision was from eternity as part of the EVERLASTING COVENANT, the law of God, the transcript of His character of love. I was shown that it was due to changes in the form of the Son, from the foundation of this world, that caused Satan to view himself as being just as qualified as Christ was, to be included in the councils of heaven regarding the creation of this earth. I was shown that since this world was created in an accelerated pace of one week’s duration, Christ had to undergo an altered “brought forth/begotten” state of Being in order to communicate with Adam and Eve, the first humans created in His image on this earth. At first, Christ could communicate face to face with Adam and Eve. But this changed when the pair sinned. And when sin occurred, that was like slaying the Lamb from the foundation of the earth, because sin occurred so soon after the foundation was laid. The fact that Scripture represents Christ as being slain from the foundation of the earth, tells us that Adam and Eve sinned very soon after creation week. The act of sin slayed the heart of Christ even before the Incarnation and the Cross.

·       It is important to consider that there was not a long time span from the foundation of this earth to the creation of man. It all occurred within one week, and sin shortly ensued. The Lord has not chosen to inform us as to the exact time Adam and Eve sinned. That is what my angel told me, but I was told that it was relatively very soon after creation. It could be a discouraging factor to man to know exactly how soon after his creation that unfallen man sinned! What we need to focus on is how ready the Son of God was to come to the aid of sinful man. The plan of redemption existed from eternity.

·       I was shown that the Son of God volunteered from the foundation of the creation of the other worlds to temporarily be “possessed, brought forth, set up, be begotten,” in another form which forfeited certain attributes of His glory, so that He could appear before and converse with mankind who had not sinned.

·       The angel Gabriel showed me that the Son of God volunteered to permanently alter His “God in the highest sense Being,” beginning from the foundation of this earth, in order to be able to not only communicate with and appear before what would imminently become sinful mankind, but to make an Atonement sacrifice for sin.

·       I was shown that the alteration in His Being slain (the Incarnation sacrifice) in a permanent way, began from the foundation of this world in what is referred to as His being “begotten,” and “brought forth” state of Being, which began just before this world was created—for even from eternity the Son volunteered to be the communication representative of the Father to humans. As stated, this was a temporal altered state of Being in regard to the non-sinning worlds which were created before our world, but it began the process of becoming permanent at the foundation of this world, as the Testator began His sacrifice in the heavenly sanctuary FIRST, the divesting process of an Atoning “death” Sacrifice for the sins of all in this world who would repent and receive salvation.

·       I was instructed that the Incarnation had everything to do with the Son being “brought forth/begotten,” from the bosom of the Father, in addition to the other meanings I was shown. I was shown that this being “possessed,” “begotten,” “brought forth,” and being “set up” had nothing to do with any coming into existence at some time future to the Father’s eternal existence, but refers solely to the Son’s altered state of being so that He could appear as God’s representative to humans of all the worlds, the first worlds having been created before this one.

·       I asked the meaning of bosom in John 1. Jhn 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. I was told that the word bosom indicates the center of feelings or emotions and the same ONE ETERNAL SPIRIT essence and substance of the Father and the Son, and their ONENESS. It is because of their ONE ETERNAL SPIRIT, that they are as ONE GOD.

·       I was shown that the transformation process involved in God coming in the likeness of sinful flesh involved much more than human minds can now comprehend, and that only in the heavenly courts will we be fully apprised of the greatness of the sacrifice involved.

·       It was vividly presented to me that the alteration process of being “brought forth” and “begotten,” was from the Son’s position of being eternal God in the highest sense, rather than in the Arian sense of the Son being brought forth and begotten at a time subsequent to the Father’s eternal existence.

·       I was shown that the model of the Incarnation sacrifice as presented by Ellen White and Scripture, follows the above description in every detail. For example, Ellen White said in the following “cumbered” statement that the Son of God was the Holy Spirit, and that His humanity was divested from His Divinity into an independent person, because the attributes of His divinity would have been cumbered by His humanity. This is a true depiction of the alteration of the Godhead, from a fully Divine ONE ETERNAL SPIRIT state, to an altered lesser state, rather than the Arian model whereby Christ was somehow begotten by the Father at some point future to the Father’s eternal existence, as an inferior, lesser form of God, that had never before existed as God in the highest eternal sense. Here is the statement presenting Christ as “brought forth,” “begotten” from the highest one eternal Holy Spirit of God, to a reduced (divested) state of Being.

Cumbered with humanity Christ could not be in every place personally, therefore it was altogether for their advantage that He should leave them to go to His Father and send the Holy Spirit to be His successor on earth. The Holy Spirit is Himself divested of the personality of humanity and independent thereof. He would represent Himself as present in all places by His Holy Spirit.” E.G. White, (Manuscript Releases Volume 14 (No’s 1081-1135) MR No.1084.

·       My attention was called to the fact that Acts 13:33 and Psalms 2:6, 7, refer to the resurrection of Christ from the Tomb.

Acts 13:33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

Psa 2:6   Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

Psa 2:7   I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

·       I specifically asked about the meaning of the following verses in Proverbs:

Pro 8:22   The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

Pro 8:23   I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

Pro 8:24   When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.

Pro 8:25   Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:

I asked the meaning of the words “possessed me” in Proverbs 8:22. I was instructed that to possess means to have something, and the Father and the Son possessed the company of one another from eternity, because they were eternally constituted of (POSSESSED) the ONE ETERNAL SPIRIT. The Son was also “possessed” as a representative of the Father by way of volunteering and being appointed, approved of the Father as the Testator of the EVERLASTING COVENANT. The reader should take careful note that this definition is the only meaning that does not meet with contradictions relative to other Bible and Spirit of Prophecy statements that Christ was eternal in His pre-existence. I was shown that any reference to the beginning means from eternity. Proverbs 8:23 establishes this meaning as well by the words “EVERLASTING, FROM THE BEGINNING.” I asked the meaning of “set up” and was shown that from eternity, from EVERLASTING, the Son volunteered to be the Testator of the EVERLASTING Covenant, and as such He was “set up,” appointed, approved of the Father for that redemptive task.

·       I have already related what I was shown concerning the “brought forth” meanings, but will here add that it was explained to me that even before this world was created, the Son was “brought forth” from the state of being God in the highest sense, to an alternative state of Being, in order to personally converse with humans of other worlds who were created in His image. I was shown that the beginning of the creation of the other worlds dates back to eternity. When there were no depths, no fountains abounding with water in this world, before the mountains and hill existed, in this world, the Son of God was brought forth in an altered state of Being in order to communicate with humans of other worlds who were created in His image.

·       I asked my angel if those of other worlds who had not sinned could see the Father. I was told that NO MAN from any world has seen the Father. No man can see His face and live. This is why the Son had to be “brought forth/Begotten” into an altered state so He could converse with humans of other worlds as well. This altered state of the Son’s Being, did not become permanent until the Incarnation sacrifice. I was told that we will see God face to face in heaven. I was referred to the following statement:

"My brethren, we must all work wisely and intelligently. Ceremonies and forms should not become so essential as to mark out a course whereby the Lord should do His work. The world and all society are looked upon as in disorder. Ideas and methods and skillful inventions are instituted to remodel it, but the system is almost altogether human. The change essential is conversion from error to truth. The temple lies in ruins, and an attempt to build it with the same old material is useless. Only the power of God can transform the character of man, conforming him to the image of Christ in heart and mind, for even the thoughts are to be brought into captivity to Jesus Christ. Only think of the work to be done. God takes fallen man, a worm of the dust, and transforms him, fitting him to be a member of the heavenly family, a companion through eternal ages, of the angels and of Jesus Christ. He who submits to this process will see God’s face, and hold communion with Him." {TSA 74.1}

·       I asked my angel why the humans of other worlds could not see God, since they have not sinned. The answer was that no man will be able to see God until all men are glorified at the end of the Great Controversy between Christ and Satan. I was shown that humans of other worlds are still being tempted by Satan. I was pointed to the following statement which depicts that it is only during the millennium that Satan will not have access to other worlds to temp and annoy them.

Here is to be the home of Satan with his evil angels for a thousand years. Limited to the earth, he will not have access to other worlds to tempt and annoy those who have never fallen. It is in this sense that he is bound: there are none remaining, upon whom he can exercise his power. He is wholly cut off from the work of deception and ruin which for so many centuries has been his sole delight.” {GC 659.1}

·       It was stressed to me three times, that this model of the Godhead solves all the “apparent” contradictions in the Bible as to the divinity of Christ. It totally refutes the claims of Arianism, which many of the SDA pioneers subscribed to.

·       I asked my angel why Ellen White didn’t correct the pioneers. He responded that the reason was related to the high importance of unity in the forming church, and that this was why Ellen White spoke against debating the Godhead at one point. However, when Kellogg came up with the Alpha heresy on the personality of God and Christ, that in effect swept away the entire Christian economy, Ellen White was forced to take a firm stand and MEET IT. No longer was this issue banned from debate. Rather Ellen White instructed that we should repudiate everything that is not in harmony with a truth that admits of no compromise. 1 SM 205.

·       I asked my Angel about the Biblical references to Christ being brought forth and begotten long before the Incarnation sacrifice. I was told that it was long before the Incarnation, even from eternity that God knew sin would break out in this world, and that provision was then made for the Son of God to communicate with man via an altered state of being, PERSONHOOD. I was shown that the Testator’s Covenant of Hebrews was EVERLASTING from eternity, and it was from eternity that the Son volunteered to alter His state by being “brought forth,” “begotten” in another form in order to commune first with Adam and Eve BEFORE they sinned, and then to be “brought forth” and “begotten” in a more permanent state after sin arouse.

·       The seriousness of the Everlasting Covenant was stressed to me in relation to the Testators Testament. The Everlasting Covenant is all about God’s Law and any violation of that law. It is so important because that law is a transcript of His character of love. God is love. There is no greater revelation of God’s love than the permanent “death” sacrifice made by the Testator of the Testament (Covenant). Whereby the Son of God forever “died” to His former Being (existence) of HOLY SPIRIT DIVINE NATURE ONLY, to become human forever.

Heb 9:16 For where a testament [COVENANT] is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.

Heb 9:17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

·       The Strong’s meaning of the word Testament in Heb. 9:6 is: a disposition, arrangement, of any sort, which one wishes to be valid, the last disposition which one makes of his earthly possessions after his death, a testament or will; a compact, a covenant, a testament

·       The only Covenant demanding death of the Testator is God’s Everlasting Covenant, His Law, and the provision for any breach in that Covenant was eternal as well. So from eternity, the Son of God volunteered to be the propitiator of that Covenant. Only He as God in the highest sense could be the Testator of God’s Everlasting Covenant.

·       I was shown that from eternity [everlasting] the Son of God as God in the highest sense, was “brought forth,” “begotten,” in the sense of being chosen (after He volunteered), ordained, “set up,” to serve as the Testator of the Everlasting Covenant, and the communication agent of God the Father to His intelligent creatures, after He volunteered to be man’s saviour and redeemer.

·       I asked my angel why the Father/Son relationship was applied to the Godhead. I was told that this was to portray the close relationship between the two, the absolute ONENESS in essence and substance—which is ONE ETERNAL SPIRIT. I was instructed that this title was never intended to infer inferiority in any sense, and that it is Satan who has advanced that lie.

Conclusion to my Vision:

·       My vision relates the key to solving all the “apparent” contradictions in the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy which have given rise to Arianism, one of the most abominable lies originating from the father of lies. The model I was shown solves all the problems that have given rise to the folly of Arianism.

·       Upon any close study of Ellen White’s teachings on the Godhead, it will be seen that the model taught by Ellen White, was the very same as depicted in my vision—that of the Son as ETERNAL God in the highest sense, becoming fully human as well, in an independent human body, rather than the Arian view whereby the Son somehow emanated from the Father, as a lesser God, some time future to the Father’s eternal existence.

·       The word “begotten” in Scripture means one of a kind, and the Son of God was surely ONE OF A KIND, in being “brought forth/begotten” from the position of being God in the highest sense, to an altered state of Being in which He could converse with His intelligent creatures.

·       The Bible says that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son. He “gave” His Son in the sense that He agreed to what the Son volunteered to do. In the same sense, Abraham did not have to force Isaac upon the alter. Isaac volunteered of his own will to be a sacrifice if necessary. Thus, he demonstrated the same faith and love for God that his father exhibited.

·       The Atonement sacrifice of the Son of God far transcends three days in a tomb. His willingness as THE ETERNAL GOD IN THE HIGHEST SENSE, to volunteer to be the God/Man come in the likeness of sinful human flesh, and remain a human priest forever, is the greatest example of God’s love for man.

·       God is love, and the willingness of the Father to consent to His Son’s voluntary act of being “set up,” “brought forth,” “begotten,” ordained to be the Testator who must die to something eternally in Atonement for the wages of our sin, is also evidence of the Father’s love, for being omniscient, the Father felt/feels every emotion and pain experienced by His beloved Son. So in effect, the Father is crucified afresh by our sins just as His beloved Son is. Because they share THE ONE ETERNAL SPIRIT, whatever one experiences, is inevitably experienced by the other.

·       Arianism in all its forms is blasphemic, antichrist, Satanic abomination, that does total despite to the Incarnation Atonement sacrifice, because only one equal to God in the highest sense could be the Testator of the EVERLASTING (ETERNAL) COVENANT.

·       I was shown that there has been no excuse for the belief in Arianism, because the Scriptures demonstrate the eternal existence of the Son in many places. One of the most obvious is the times in Revelation wherein Christ speaks of Himself as the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, in the sense that He had NO BEGINNING AND NO ENDING. He was and is eternal.

·       Men of high intelligence (the brightest lights) like A. T. Jones, and E. J. Waggoner, often go astray on the important issue of the Godhead. How in the world could they side with Kellogg in his pantheistic nonsense? But, as stated, there is no excuse for man’s foolish virgin belief in Arianism and/or its various forms, so we need not blame God for the widespread ignorance of this most serious of all issues of Christianity. And now, even with this clear rendering of the factual truth of the matter, men will still persist in their bull-headed notions concerning the Godhead, being too proud in many cases to alter the erroneous views they have long taught.

The Alpha and Omega Factor

I have dealt with this Biblical fact regarding Christ, many times in the past, so I will give the following short study from another source:

Question: "What does it mean that Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega?"

https://www.gotquestions.org/alpha-and-omega.html

Answer: Jesus proclaimed Himself to be the “Alpha and Omega” in Revelation 1:8, 11; 21:6; and 22:13. Alpha and omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. Among the Jewish rabbis, it was common to use the first and the last letters of the Hebrew alphabet to denote the whole of anything, from beginning to end. Jesus as the beginning and end of all things is a reference to no one but the true God. This statement of eternality could apply only to God. It is seen especially in Revelation 22:13, where Jesus proclaims that He is “the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

One of the meanings of Jesus being the “Alpha and Omega” is that He was at the beginning of all things and will be at the close. It is equivalent to saying He always existed and always will exist. It was Christ, as second Person of the Trinity, who brought about the creation: “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made” (John 1:3), and His Second Coming will be the beginning of the end of creation as we know it (2 Peter 3:10). As God incarnate, He has no beginning, nor will He have any end with respect to time, being from everlasting to everlasting.

A second meaning of Jesus as the “Alpha and Omega” is that the phrase identifies Him as the God of the Old Testament. Isaiah ascribes this aspect of Jesus’ nature as part of the triune God in several places. “I, the Lord, am the first, and with the last I am He” (41:4). “I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God” (Isaiah 44:6). “I am he; I am the first, I also am the last” (Isaiah 48:12). These are clear indications of the eternal nature of the Godhead.

Christ, as the Alpha and Omega, is the first and last in so many ways. He is the “author and finisher” of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), signifying that He begins it and carries it through to completion. He is the totality, the sum and substance of the Scriptures, both of the Law and of the Gospel (John 1:1, 14). He is the fulfilling end of the Law (Matthew 5:17), and He is the beginning subject matter of the gospel of grace through faith, not of works (Ephesians 2:8-9). He is found in the first verse of Genesis and in the last verse of Revelation. He is the first and last, the all in all of salvation, from the justification before God to the final sanctification of His people.

Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, the first and last, the beginning and the end. Only God incarnate could make such a statement. Only Jesus Christ is God incarnate.

Evidence that Jesus is God in the Highest Sense

"The world was made by him, 'and without him was not anything made that was made.' If Christ made all things, he existed before all things. The words spoken in regard to this are so decisive that no one need be left in doubt. Christ was God essentially, and in the highest sense. He was with God from all eternity, God over all, blessed forevermore...." E.G. White, SDA Bible Commentary, Vol. 7a, p. 438.

Jhn 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Jhn 1:14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

This is one of the most well-known “proof texts”. Jesus is eternal (here, “beginning” means “eternity past”). He was with God the Father, and is God the Son. To make sure that the reader has no misunderstanding, John (v. 14) reiterates that the “Word” referred to is the Son, and notes that He “became flesh” (the incarnation). Only the Son has a body. The Word = Jesus = God.

John 10:30 I and the Father are one.

Jesus' hearers, unbelieving Jews, certainly understood His intent in saying this, because they tried to stone Him, as the next verse informs us, since they didn't believe His claim, which, if indeed untrue, would be intolerable blasphemy. 10:33 informs us that they tried to stone Him because (in their words) “you, being a man, make yourself God.”

In John 14:23, BOTH the Father and the Comforter (Holy Spirit of Christ’s Divine Nature) come to us when the Comforter is sent, for the reason that they both are (share) THE ONE ETERNAL SPIRIT ESSENCE AND SUBSTANCE of which God is constituted. The Bible says that God is a Spirit. Because they BOTH are of the ONE ETERNAL SPIRIT (ONE GOD) they both must come to us when the Comforter is sent. This is one of the most profound proofs that Jesus is God in the highest sense and that His Divine Nature Holy Spirit is co-eternal with the One Eternal Spirit—ONE GOD.

Jhn 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Jhn 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

John 20:28 Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!”

This had to do with the famous “Doubting Thomas” incident. Thomas didn't believe Jesus had risen, so Jesus appeared for His sake and told him to touch the wound in His side. Then Thomas believed and said this. If it were untrue, Jesus would have corrected him, but He didn't; He commended Thomas because he “believed.”

Colossians 1:19 For in him all the fulness of God was pleased to dwell,

In context, it is the Son Who is being described (1:13); He is eternal (1:15, 17-18), the Creator (1:16), and the unifying principle of the universe (1:17; cf. Heb 1:3): all attributes true only of God. Paul makes the notion even more explicit in the next chapter:

Colossians 2:9 For in him the whole fulness of deity dwells bodily,

2 Peter 1:1 . . . our God and Savior Jesus Christ:

St. Paul uses the same phrase in Titus 2:13 as well.

Hebrews 1:8 But of the Son he says, “Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever, the righteous scepter is the scepter of thy kingdom.”

This is a remarkable passage, in which God the Father calls His Son “God.” It is a reference to the Old Testament passage, Psalms 45:6-7.

In Hebrews 1:6, God the Father also says that all the angels should worship God the Son. Worship can only be rightly applied to God, as we know from Exodus 34:14 and Deuteronomy 8:19. Yet Jesus accepted worship of Himself on many occasions (e.g., Mt 14:33; 28:9) and stated that He should be honored equally with the Father (Jn 5:23). In Revelation 5:8, 12-13 and Colossians 2:6-7, we find that Jesus is worshiped in every way that the Bible specifically describes worship of God the Father, with all the same words used (see: Rev 4:9-11, 5:13; 7:11-12, and Rom 11:33).

The Divine Nature Holy Spirit Person of Jesus is omnipotent and possesses all the omni’s of God.

Philippians 3:20-21 . . . the Lord Jesus Christ, ALL POWERFUL, [21] who will change our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power which enables him even to subject all things to himself.

He's omniscient (all-knowing):

Colossians 2:2-3 . . . Christ, [3] in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

He's omnipresent (present everywhere):

Ephesians 1:22-23 the church, [23] which is his body, the fulness of him who fills all in all. (cf. Col 3:11)

In John 14:16, BOTH the Father and the Son’s Holy Spirit Comforter come to us, to wit: Jhn 14:23  Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

Another astonishing passage along these lines is one where Jesus speaks about historical events described as being done by God the Father in the Old Testament. He casually applies them to Himself (what might be called “the Divine 'I'”):

Matthew 23: 34, 37 Therefore I send you prophets and wise men and scribes, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from town to town, . . . [37] O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, killing the prophets and stoning those who are sent to you! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not!

Many attributes that are said to belong only to “God” are applied to Jesus in Scripture. God the Father said, “besides me there is no savior” (Is 43:11; cf. 1 Tim 4:10). Yet Jesus is called the “savior” of mankind in passages like Luke 2:11 and many others.

Isa 43:11   I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

Isa 43:12   I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.

Isa 43:13   Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?

Isa 43:14   Thus saith the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.

Isa 43:15   I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.

1Ti 4:10   For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

God the Father stated concerning His Son Jesus Christ in Isaiah 45:23: “To me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear” The same exact description is also applied to Jesus (Phil 2:10-11).

Ellen White often quoted Clarke’s Commentary. Adam Clarke’s Commentary on Isaiah 45:24 says:

Verse 24

Surely, shall one say, In the Lord have I righteousness and strength "Saying, Only to Jehovah belongeth salvation and power" - A MS. omits לי li, unto me; and instead of אמר לי li amar, he said or shall say unto me, the Septuagint read, in the copy which they used, לאמר lemor, saying. For יבא yabo, He shall come, in the singular, twelve MSS. three ancient) read יבאו yabeu, plural; and a letter is erased at the end of the word in two others: and so the Alexandrine copy of the Septuagint, Syriac, and Vulgate read it. For צדקות tsedakoth plural, two MSS. read צדקת tsidkath, singular; and so the Septuagint, Syriac, and Chaldee.

The Bible teaches that “God” is judge (1 Sam 2:10; Ps 50:6; Ecc 12:14; many others). But so is Jesus (Jn 5:22, 27; 9:39; Acts 10:42; 2 Tim 4:1). Therefore He is God.

I am not saying that the Father is the Son, or that the Son is the Father, but there are other places that refer to Christ as Jehovah, a name given to the Father. What I am saying is that they both are God in the highest sense, and I believe that is what these verses are saying—that they are ONE GOD>

God the Father sits on His throne in heaven (1 Ki 22:19; Ps 11:4; 47:8). Jesus is on the same throne, too (Rev 7:17; 22:1, 3).

At every turn in the Bible, only one conclusion is possible, to make sense of all these statements, taken together as a whole: Jesus is God the Son. He is the eternal, all-powerful, all-loving, self-existent Creator God.

In the name of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,
