129. My Vision on the Application of the Third Chapter of Revelation

April 11, 2017

(Revelation 3:14-18.) Read the Third Chapter of Revelation—In the message to the church at Sardis two parties are presented—those who have a name to live, but are dead; and those who are striving to overcome. Study this message, found in the third chapter of Revelation. [Revelation 3:1, 2 quoted.] Who are meant by those that are ready to die? and what has made them thus? The explanation is given, “I have not found thy works perfect before God.” [Revelation 3:3-5quoted.] {7BC 959.4}

To the church of the present day this message is sent. I call upon our church members to read the whole of the third chapter of Revelation, and to make an application of it. The message to the church of the Laodiceans applies especially to the people of God today. It is a message to professing Christians who have become so much like the world that no difference can be seen [Revelation 3:14-18 quoted] (RH August 20, 1903). {7BC 959.5}

Rev 3:1  And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.

Rev 3:2   Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.

My vision on Revelation this early a.m., April 11, 2017, was in answer to my prayer that God would give me a better understanding as to why Ellen White was telling the church of Laodicea to study the message to Sardis and to make an application of it. First of all, this is a classic example of Ellen White’s statement that all the messages (plural) to the seven churches apply to the end of time, and not just the last message to Laodicea.

"The names of the seven churches are symbolic of the church in different periods of the Christian Era. The number indicates completeness, and is symbolic of the fact that the messages [plural] extend to the end of time, while the symbols used reveal the condition of the church [collectively and generally] at different periods in the history of the world." E.G. White, The Acts of the Apostles, 585.

I was particularly fascinated with Ellen White’s application of the message of Sardis to Laodiceans. The era of Philadelphia came after Sardis, but we must remember that all the messages apply to the church at any given time.

What did Sardis have in common with Laodicea? Laodicea had a name to live as well—Seventh-day Adventist, but the Laodicean church is dead because the presence of God is not in her midsts:

The church is in the Laodicean state. The presence of God is not in her midst.”—NL 99 (1898). Latter Day Events, p. 49.

"To the end of time, the presence of the Spirit is to abide with the true church." E.G. White, Acts of the Apostles, p. 55.

The True Church

God has a church. It is not the great cathedral, (or the super mega church), neither is it the national establishment, neither is it the various denominations; it is the people who love God and keep His commandments. 'Where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them.' Where Christ is even among the humble few, THIS IS CHRIST'S CHURCH, for the presence of the High and Holy One who inhabiteth eternity can alone constitute a church." Upward Look, p. 315.

When the presence of God is absent, the only other master is Satan, and any “church” that is under his auspices is the Synagogue of Satan.

Notice the date, 1898!  Five years earlier, in 1893, the church was keeping the commandments and heeding the Laodicea message said Ellen White. Five years later, the presence of God is not in her midsts. Five additional years later, in 1903, Ellen White's instructor called the church, "the once faithful city," A HARLOT. Testimonies, Vol. 8, p. 250.

Via Ellen White application of the message to Sardis, to Laodicea, Laodicea was to strengthen the things that remained—what truths still remained, for the omega heresy was impending and that heresy was to wax stronger until Jesus comes:

Wax stronger "One thing it is certain is soon to be realized, the great apostasy, which is developing and increasing and waxing stronger, and will continue to do so until the Lord shall descend from heaven with a shout. We are to hold fast the first principles of our denominated faith, and go forward from strength to increased faith. Ever we are to keep the faith that has been substantiated by the Holy Spirit of God from the earlier events of our experience until the present time. We need now larger breadth, and deeper, more earnest, unwavering faith in the leadings of the Holy Spirit. If we needed the manifest proof of the Holy Spirit's power to confirm truth in the beginning, after the passing of the time, we need to-day all the evidence in the confirmation of the truth, when souls are departing from the faith and giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. There must not be any languishing of soul now." (E.G. White, Special Testimonies, Series B, No. 7, p. 57).

Series B, No. 7, in context, is dealing with the alpha and omega heresies. The apostasy associated with both the alpha and omega was to wax stronger until Jesus comes. Ellen White cut short the alpha heresy pertaining to the personality of God and Christ (the Godhead), but it was to continue in a far worse unfolding in the omega, which Ellen White said would surely come.

"The enemy will set everything in operation to uproot the confidence of the believers in the pillars of our faith in the messages of the past, which have placed us upon the elevated platform of eternal truth, and which have established and given character to the work. The Lord God of Israel has led out His people, unfolding to them truth of heavenly origin." "The truth for this time is precious, but those whose hearts have not been broken by falling on the Rock Christ Jesus, will not see and understand what is truth. They will accept that which pleases their ideas, and will begin to manufacture another foundation than that which is laid. They will flatter their own vanity and esteem, thinking that they are capable of removing the pillars of our faith, and replacing them with pillars they have devised. This will continue to be as long as time shall last." Notebook, Leaflets, pp. 61-62.

God Showed me What was About to Die in Laodicea

What was about to die in Laodicea had already died in Sardis—namely the most vital truths of Christianity involved with the human nature of Christ and the Godhead. It was these truths, once held by Philadelphia, that were about to die in Laodicea as a result of the alpha and omega heresies which would wax stronger until Jesus comes.

The message to Sardis that Ellen White applied to Laodicea, was to strengthen the truth, the pillars, that remained that were ready to die. What truths were ready to die in the omega? What truths did indeed die due to the development of the omega heresies in the church? The omega involves all the abominations that have entered the church via its leaders, but the worst of them occurred in the latter 1950’s and in 1980 when the human nature of Christ was changed to comply with Babylon’s interpretation, and Rome’s version of the Godhead was adopted and voted in at the 1980 World General Conference Session.

Laodicea had become so much like the world that no difference could `be seen. A desire to become like the fallen churches entered in. Early Writings, p. 273 says that it is IMPOSSIBLE to distinguish the fallen churches from the world—that no difference can be seen between the two. And Adventists wanted to be like those fallen churches, to wit:

Pattern after other churches: "A new order of things has COME INTO the ministry. There is a desire to pattern after other churches and simplicity and humility are almost unknown. The young ministers seek to be original, and to introduce new ideas and new plans for labor. Some open revival meetings, and by this means call large numbers into the church. But when the excitement is over, where are the converted ones? Repentance and confession of sin are not seen. The sinner is entreated to believe in Christ and accept Him, without regard to his past life of sin and rebellion. The heart is not broken. There is no contrition of soul. The supposed converted ones have not fallen upon the Rock, Christ Jesus." E.G. White, Selected Messages, Bk. 2, pp. 18, 19.

What the above statement is really saying is that Adventists adopted the false gospel of the fallen churches—cheap grace, only believe, the Doctrine of the Nicolaitans. I was a member of an Adventist forum some years ago that was owned and operated by an SDA who officiated as head elder of his church. He was always lamenting that all SDA’s had not yet adopted the gospel of the other churches. When I would speak of overcoming sin by the empowerment of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, he would tell me that I really meant that I did the works. He believed exactly as Ellen White’s above statement portrays. Most SDA ministers believe in that new order, new organization, new movement omega heresy.

The Incarnation Removed

The Trinity Doctrine, as adopted and voted in by the SDA church General Conference Session in 1980, teaches that there are three co-eternal persons to the Godhead. That teaching thus obfuscates the Incarnation by which a third person was adopted into the Godhead when the Son of God came in the likeness of humanity, as an independent person from the person of His Divinity. This fact is attested by the Bible and Ellen G. White.

"Cumbered with humanity Christ could not be in every place personally, therefore it was altogether for their advantage that He should leave them to go to His Father and send the Holy Spirit to be His successor on earth. The Holy Spirit is Himself divested of the personality of humanity and independent thereof. He would represent Himself as present in all places by His Holy Spirit.” E.G. White, (Manuscript Releases Volume 14 (No’s 1081-1135) MR No.1084.

Decades ago, I asked God where Ellen White got Bible support for her teaching that Christ’s humanity was an independent person from His Holy Spirit Divine Nature. God showed me the following:

Jesus speaking with Nocodemus while He was on earth:

"And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven." John 3:13.

This proves the very scenario of the Godhead which I have taught. Jesus came down from heaven, but His first Estate (Being) was still in heaven as He spoke with Nicodemus. Men like Robert Sessler and Nicholas Petula have mocked me, saying that there was no split between Christ’s Holy Spirit person and His human person. They are thus mocking John 3:13 and Ellen White’s cumbered/divested statement. The humanity of Christ is dispossessed of the three omni’s forever, because of the fact that the divinity of Christ is cumbered by Christ’s humanity and His humanity is FOREVER.

Christ ascended to heaven, bearing a sanctified, holy humanity. He took this humanity with Him into the heavenly courts, and through the eternal ages He will bear it, as the One who has redeemed every human being in the city of God.” —The Review and Herald, March 9, 1905. {7ABC 488.1}

In stooping to take upon Himself humanity, Christ revealed a character the opposite of the character of Satan. . . . In taking our nature, the Saviour has bound Himself to humanity by a tie that is never to be broken. Through the eternal ages He is linked with us. "God so loved the world, that He gave His only-begotten Son." John 3:16. He gave Him not only to bear our sins, and to die as our sacrifice; He gave Him to the fallen race. To assure us of His immutable counsel of peace, God gave His only-begotten Son to become one of the human family, forever to retain His human nature. This is the pledge that God will fulfill His word. "Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder." God has adopted human nature in the person of His Son, and has carried the same into the highest heaven.”—Desire of Ages, p. 25. {7ABC 456.4}

In stooping to take the habiliments of a man, Christ did not cease to be God. The human did not become divine, nor the divine human. Christ lived the law of God, showing (all) men and women that through His grace they can do the same. By faith, in His humanity Christ saw what we are permitted to see by faith—the atoning sacrifice connected with the Lord upon the mercy seat. The golden censer is waved, and the incense, the representation of the purity and righteousness of Christ, ascends, bearing the prayers of every soul that receives and believes on Christ to the altar which is before the throne of God. And Jesus is in the midst.” {Ms111-1897.48}

Because the humanity of Christ cumbered the omni attributes of His Holy Spirit Divine Nature, one of the greatest sacrifices of the Incarnation was/is the fact that the Son of God’s Holy Spirit HIMSELF (PERSON) was/is divested from the person of His humanity. This was when another person, THE HUMAN PERSON of Christ, was adopted into the Godhead. The damnable heresy of the Trinity Doctrine, is the implication that the Incarnation never occurred, because the Trinity Doctrine teaches that there were three CO-ETERNAL persons BEFORE the Incarnation, when it was the Incarnation that produced a THIRD PERSON.

Prior to the Incarnation, there were only TWO PERSONS to the Godhead. The Son was the Holy Spirit Himself. That was His Divine Nature before His Incarnation. He is defined as the Comforter in John 14. That Comforter is the Holy Spirit. So the THREE PERSONS to the Godhead are:

1.    The Eternal Father.

2.    The Eternal Son (Holy Spirit).

3.    The non-eternal humanity of Christ Jesus.

Before the Incarnation, there was NO HUMAN ELEMENT TO THE GODHEAD. The human element was adopted into the Godhead at the Incarnation:

"By His life and His death, Christ has achieved even more than recovery from the ruin wrought through sin. It was Satan's purpose to bring about an eternal separation between God and man but in Christ we become more closely united to God than if we had never fallen. In taking our nature, the Saviour has bound himself to humanity by a tie that is never to be broken. Through the eternal ages He is linked with us. 'God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son.' [John 3:16]. He gave Him not only to bear our sins, and to die as our sacrifice He gave Him to the fallen race. To assure us of His immutable counsel of peace, God gave His only Begotten Son to become one of the human family forever to retain His human nature. This is the pledge that God will fulfill His word. 'Unto us a child is born unto us a son is given and the government shall be upon His shoulder.' God has adopted human nature in the person of His Son, and has carried the same into the highest heaven. It is the 'Son of man' who shares the throne of the universe. It is the 'Son of man' whose name shall be called, 'Wonderful, Counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the prince of Peace.' [Isa. 9:6]. The I Am is the Daysman between God and humanity, laying His hand upon both. HE who is 'holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners,' is not ashamed to call us brethren. [Heb. 7:26 2:11.] In Christ the family of earth and the family of heaven are bound together. Christ glorified is our brother. Heaven is enshrined in humanity, and humanity is enfolded in the bosom of Infinite love." The Desire of Ages, 25.

Christ a Human Man Forever

Though Christ has a Divine Nature Holy Spirit, He also has a human nature that He will retain forever. His human nature is without the three omni’s. That is a huge element of the great sacrifice He made for us. It involves so much more than the Cross and three days in a tomb. Christ, as Testator of the Everlasting Covenant, must die FOREVER to something, to pay the wages of our sin, which are eternal. He “died” forever to being DIVINE NATURE HOLY SPIRIT (ONLY), to become human and divested from His Holy Spirit Divine Nature forever.

22By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

23And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:

24But this MAN, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.

25Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

26For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

27Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

28For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore. Hebrews 7:22-28.

This issue is so crucial because an errant teaching on the Godhead, sweeps away the entire Christian economy by voiding the Incarnation, the sacrifice by which a THIRD PERSON was adopted into the Godhead. Only by the truth of the Godhead can God find our works perfect, because it is by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit sacrifice that we are indwelt by His Spirit and enabled to overcome. Thus, the first duty when embracing any ministry is to determine its teaching on the most fundamental doctrine of Christianity, the Godhead.

God’s presence cannot be in any church that teaches error on the Godhead, for it is by the truth of the Godhead, the truth of the highest good, crowning gift of the Holy Spirit, made possible by the Incarnation sacrifice, that we can overcome as directed in Revelation Chapter 3.
